Is it just me or has Paypal stopped sending emails showing that your Paypal card has been used?  I so loved this feature as I could track my husband's spending without having to badger him every day for receipts.  Help please.

Appears to be MORE OF THE SAME!!!  See what I got today for a reply to my email to them.

I apologize for the incoinvienice with this but PayPal is aware off the
issue where some of our customers are not receiving the email
notifications when using their PayPal Debit MasterCard® I can assure you
we are working to resolve this issue and have an estimated timeframe by
the end of the month to try to have this issue fixed by. Thank you for
your continued patience with this process.

Note the spelling errors through out.  This sure looks suspicious to me.  Has Paypal been hijacked by illiterates?  Come on, I am sure spell check could have caugt the misspellings at least!  I am getting a bit leary of their ability to take care of my business.  I know that I sent my email to the correct place as I went to their own website and emailed from there.  Oh well, time will tell!

This was the response I received on 6/29.  We will see what the new response says, and if it is is similar to yours, I am curious now.  In the meantime this really stinks!!!

 

 

Thank you for taking the time to contact us with your concerns. My name is Glenna and I am happy to assist you further. I've included some information to make sure you've opted into email notifications through your PayPal account and after you review this information, if that is already set then we're looking at a recently discovered technical issue.

It appears as though since 6/22 customers haven't been receiving email notifications on debit card transactions. Right now the only workaround would be to access your account history in your PayPal account, but we'll follow up as soon as the issue is resolved. I'll gladly escalate the issue and I'm sorry for the inconvenience. 

 

You can decide which emails you want us to send you and whether you want to receive promotions from our partners. You can also choose to receive emails in an HTML or plain text format.

 

 

Here’s how to update your email notification preferences:

 

   1. Go to www.paypal.com and log in to your account.

   2. Click ‘Profile’ near the top of the page.

   3. Click 'My settings.'

   4. Click 'Update' beside 'Notifications.'

   5. Select the email types you want to receive and click ‘Save.'

 

Note:

 

    * You can change your preferences any time by going to your Profile.

    * For your security, we always email you when you request your

password or change your name, your address, your email address, your

password, or your bank account.

    * We also email you about important changes to our legal agreements

or policies.

 

We know situations like this can be difficult, so thanks for working

This 'work around' did NOT work - still no email notifications received for purchases with paypal debit card!  Called them again - but they say they have no connection with the IT department that handles this.

Paypal hijacked? I doubt it. But I bet they switched to a new mail server setup and **bleep**ed it all up. And no one wants to claim responsibility for the **bleep** up (I so badly want to use 4 letter words here!).

 

As for the bad spelling in their emails, either overseas support or inner city drop outs...

I am TIRED of using the workaround! I don't like sorting through all the authorizations, pending, completed, and moves from backup. My emails send me a notice for authorizations and another for backup funding. Easy peasy. The site is definitely not easy peasy! GRR!

Well this was the response I received.  At least she's not trying to give a date they can't keep.  In the meantime this is flippin ridiculous!

I apologize for any inconvenience. I understand it is frustrating to not receive your email notifications. At this time our technicians are working hard to resolve this issue for our debit card members. At this time we do not have a fix date, but you can always view your transactions in your PayPal account History page as this is being worked.

Unfortunately, I think I'm going to cut back on using the paypal debit card until this is resolved. At this point, if I forget to write a transaction down, I have to go  to my bank account and also to paypal to see what the transaction was for. It's becoming a hassle. Please do me a favor and post when this issue is resolved. I would love to go back to using my paypal card with receiving email message every time a transaction was made. It made things so much easier and really was the main reason I used my paypal card over my bank card.

I got 2 email confirmations yesterday!!! I hope it was not a fluke and they finally fixed it.

 

I still cannot believe it took over a month to resolve this stupid issue!

I hope you're right -- although I haven't seen any "accidental" trickles, I continue to hound them via phone and email (since they don't monitor this forum).

 

The latest email from them seemed almost...non-robotic...(emphasis added below):

  • "...My name is Michael and I understand that you are writing in regards to the email notification issue.  I am aware this has been a long standing issue and I apologize for this. I have checked on this and have been told that this issue is to be corrected very soon. I know this is not giving you a specific time but that is all that I have been able to find out at this time. Again, I am sorry for this huge inconvenience and really appreciate your patience in this matter."

Let's hope it wasn't a made-up story from Michael...
