My mobile number changed a few years ago but I never updated my profile.
Now I can't log in as Paypal wants to send me a text on the old number to verify the account.
I've tried logging in from a different browser which doesn't work.
Also tried using the Help Chat system, but this also requires me to log in to proceed.
Tried ringing the help support number but spent ages going round and round in circles with the automated options, could not get to a point of speaking to an actual person.
Funny thing is, when I selected 'Ask the Community' to access this forum, it allowed me to log in to create this profile to do this!
Really stuck as to how to resolve. Would really appreciate if anyone can offer some help with this please?

Hi
I had a phone number, which Paypal requires to log in.
I dont have access to that number, paypal doesnt bother to ask credit card numbers or secret question - stuck on mobile number login - what a nonsense.
Since when I need to carry phone?
I want there are no extra way to log in to my business account?
Why I still can pay on ebay not - paypal then doesnt bother to ask for a phone then.

Across the board and after several live agents communications, I have not had any process all day result in any progress or resolution in any way. Website or app, all failed hard. I'm beside myself. From being repeatedly <removed> at "quick security checks" which ask me for verification of my phone number, though it's already a verified number on my account and they won't accept the "format" or number when I do enter it again anyway. When attempting to add funds to my PayPal balance from an already confirmed and linked bank account, I'm shown the page to please link a bank screen anyway (FFW in circles for hours... look kid's, big Ben! Parliament!) to the nearly hope restored moment when I'm to review payment just before it should complete as processed.... but I am instead staring at a blank white screen and no indication I ever asked for a damn thing in any way, on any agents dashboard/history/you name it. I've never seen anything like it. Ever. And my career has largely been in customer service and dispatch myself. It's inexcusable and inexplicable, I'm exhausted and infuriated, yet defeated nonetheless. When chat messaging they confirm my phone has already been confirmed but abruptly end my ability to further ask, so WHY DO YOU KEEP ASKING ME TO CONFIRM IT?! Clearly your one effing job is not within your meager budget and programming capabilities to perform, sure fine. But I'll not be <removed> around while you prevent me from accessing thousands of MY dollars with your malicious **bleep**show of a service you call money transfer services. I'm so close to sue the **bleep** out everyone just cuz it now seems far more likely than simple routine processing actions I've been successful with for age, without incident.... now seem to be at PayPal as a whole. Like I'm not convinced Wreck-it Ralph hasn't hijacked the whole organization. It's not even exaggeration to say that, I'm.... nauseous. Unreal. Unacceptable. Unresolved. Unbelievable. <removed>. Anyone else? Help? Comraderie, clues as to <removed>??? Anything.

Always get some good banter when folk are raging, it is incredible though i cant believe they still aint sorted it or at least explained to people whats going on the whole change password, change browser, try signing in from another planet, carry on is even more absurd.

Hi
We are an International NGO using Paypal as a methid of payment to accept donations. Many years ago one of our board members created an account with PayPal and linked it to our bank. That person is now no longer in the board and we cannot access the account. The account is set up to an email address we have access to but the phone number and security questions/answers we do not have. The problem is our bank account is still linked to the original paypal account and even though we have created a new account (different email address) we cannot link the bank. I have tried to contact phone center but they told me to send an email asking to cancel the original account. Any advice will be much appreciated.

When trying to log into my account today, I am being asked to confirm my identity through my phone. Unfortunately the phone number entered in my account is an old one, that I no longer use. I would like to gain access to my account as soon as possible. What other verification steps can I go through in order to secure this?

You didn't read the other 1000 threads on this subject then?
Try:
1. Downloading the app to see if it will let you in to change / update it in the settings.
2. Log on via developer.paypal.com, go to paypal.com and change it in settings.
3. Use the forgotten password option several times.
4. Trying another browser that may let you in without phone verification (then change it when you have logged in).
5. Trying again another day when sometimes you can get in without doing the verification and then change the number.
6. Changing the password a few times sometimes works as it can bypass the phone verification.
7. Try clicking on P top of the forum page and see if you can log in via the forum.
If that does not work then you would need to contact customer services so that they can i.d. you another way and then add your new phone number to your account.
Contact options for Paypal are accessed by clicking help/contact bottom left of Paypal pages...
1. Paypal phones are slowly re-opening and increasing in numbers (you can use the guest option if you can't log in).
2. Live chat is also randomly available.
3. You can send them a message, during business hours you may also be able to message whilst logged out.
Or
4. Have you considered contacting Customer Service via Facebook or Twitter?
You can send them a personal message from their Facebook or Twitter pages.
