Re: Usual outcome of chargeback disputes?

Here's my case, hopefully it will help to understand yours as well. I get a chargeback by someone insane in the USA, because their mail is taking too long after they did not bother to pick it up at their post office or perhaps the USPS were lazy to deliver, so I reshipped it and provided all the proof etc. I try to reason Mr. Chargebacker and provide all the proof of their goods being on their way to him. Finally he responds and writes he is annulling the chargeback. The next day, instead of a regula temporary hold on the chargebacked funds in my Paypal account,  I see the above transfer away by Paypal for the amount of the purchase $208.75 plus $20 chargeback fee that Paypal claims the credit card holder's card provider is charging Paypal. I struggle around Paypal's new and old interface (everything is so well hidden...) and find a record which shows that the chargeback money were indeed credited back to me, but ten Paypal took the above money out of my account by this weird transfer (why not just keep on holding it like they were?) and the link that says "We couldn't  load your details. Let's try that again" is actually a teaser! It never sends me to anywhere and I am sure Paypal has a reason for that. What's going on with your case or my case? Paypal did not have enough time to even read all the docs I provided for the chargeback, let alone submit them to the other party to view. This RUSH with this TRANSFER is very shady and suspicious. What if the chargeback was indeed annuled and money credited back to Paypal, but Paypal decided to keep them and transfer them away from my account? Allegedly, of course.   ... View more

This appears to be a second chargeback settlement charge for a $208 chargeback!!! Very "clever", because at first it seems that Paypal may have refunded the seemingly "resolved" chargeback to me, but later they charge me the $228, which they state includes a $20 Paypal chargeback fee, while the buyer says they asked their bank to release the funds to me since they seemingly received the goods (USPS were too lazy to deliver, so they returned to me as "undeliverable as addressed" even that the byer states the address is fine, and I re-shipped the goods again causing months of delay and the buyer says he claimed it as "UNAUTHORIZED" charge because... the delivery was delayed.... not by my fault though and I explained it to the buyer many times yet the consumer today fails to read).   Also, the information is very hard to understand under the "new" Paypal interface and the old one it says it is outdated, but yet they keep on sending us to the old one anyway and now it is very hard to understand where is what as Paypal has started hiding a lot of information that is impossible to find now. There must be reasons why they are doing this. ... View more

Paypal mysterious unexplained money transfer for $...

Today I see this strange undisclosed transfer of $228 in my Paypal account. It seems like a withdrawal of money by Paypal. I do have one fraudulent chargeback pending for which they already withdrew money and it was for a different amount. I continue clicking on "Let's try that again" and it just keeps reloading this same screen. Sounds like  Paypal has taken money out of my account and does not want to show me for what!? This is ALARMING.   P.S. Strangely enough this TRANSFER is not a chargeback settlement, since chargeback settlements are processed differently, by claiming the original payment back, but this one is a very suspicious transfer, as it is in addition to the funds that were claimed back, then seemingly restored, unexplained transfer to cover their $20 fee (I seem to win the chargeback so why the fee?) PLUS they are taking my $208 for some reason even that the chargeback was cancelled by the buyer's credit card provider. Is Paypal taking money this way from customers that are already being abused by fraudsters? Talking about adding insult to injury! ... View more

There's always good reason for stupidity and laziness. It is called Planned Inconvenience, which is a sister of the term Planned Obsolescene or Planned Break-down. Since you can not buy a new Paypal once it "goes bad", it is yet unknown whether it is simple laziness, stupidity or something else. ... View more

Same problem here. Received a new message. Click to open it, nothing opens, but some kind of "improved" mess. Also no longer able to send money outisde of USA. Or is it USSA? EUSSR? There must be a good reason for Paypal and all other companies making a messs lately, the last decade or two. A good reason. Or utter idiocy? I doubt that.... ... View more

Paypal does not care whether we want the unprofessional bells and whistles on their home page. They cater to mobile phones and all the PC users can hang themselves upside down if they don't like. This kind of attitude is found at Google, Paypal, Microsoft, ebay and all other large corporations. I voiced my opinion, they listened and no action was taken. I guess most people like to see a random movie before doing their transactions. I personally don't care to see a dog jump on the couch or woman talk on cellphone drinking coffee. All of that is just ignorance and unprofessionalism. The best solution (if possible) is boycott or least usage of the service. ... View more

Hi Olivia,   Good to know that Paypal is unable to profit from chargeback fees and I'm glad some of the info such as keptprivate.com and the originating state (New Jersey) was left in my post, so other people can somehow potentially protect theselves from these kind of  "payments".   Now would be nice to see such functionality in Paypal where account holders could block certain IP addresses, certain email addresses, certain ISPs, certain amounts (up to $X, or exact amounts) certain domain names, as well as certain names and (shipping) addresses, same as we can with our real merchant accounts (accepting credit cards).   Regards,   Andrew ...
