HI,
I'm using a simple buy now button. I can't see anything anywhere about international orders? Can I enable them and disable them? If I don't have the option are they enabled or disabled by default?
I have set up fixed postage charges, but obviously if someone orders on the other side of the worked it would cost way more, so if possible I'd like to disable international orders by default.
Thanks

I also desperately need this feature.
I sell lots of items at the same price but at different weights so the postage costs different amounts. I don't want to just charge the highest amount for each item as that seems unfair, nor do I want to have to absorb the extra costs in what I charge for the items as that makes me less competitive. I also can't assign seperate amounts for each item because if they order more than one thing I will be charging them twice for postage.
At the moment there doesn't apear to be any way of doing this which seems odd as all delivery providers work costings on weight and size
Any help or suggestions of getting round this would be much appreciated.

This is a reply I got from merchant support, shame they can't have people reading posts!
"There is not an option to set up shipping by weight the way that you are wanting to. You would need to either use a 3rd party shopping cart that has the features that you are needing and works with PayPal, or you would need to create a script on your side that would calculate shipping and then pass over the amount to PayPal."
It seems you have to be a programmer if you want this sorting. Or pay more to a third party for a PayPal service, typical PayPal really.

Thank you so much for letting me know.
Seems crazy to me as that is how shipping is calculated by weight around the world. All you need is one more box on the button creator for weight and then a similar module for selecting weight brackets and their corresponding prices to the one used currently.
As we both know there is no way of creating a developers module from a moonfruit website.
Oh well I will look into Mal's cart again and hold out for a possible reconsideration of this function by Paypal..

wtf those questions are about calculating for weight, not location. its not related to this this topic.
Clearly assigning different interational postage costs is not possible through PayPal. For some reason Barry just won't admit it.
It's a shame you're willing to tell us what your favourite biscuit is, but not tell us anything useful.

Hi, all the issues above involve adjusting shipping (weight or destination) on the site as the buyer works their way through the checkout. I had already posted “.... On our site we list a number of partners that we have. I could only suggest you review or work with those to get the answer you need. …
The shipping option and the range of choice that you get with your shipping depend on your cart. That’s why I suggest reviewing those for the one best suited to your business requirements. I would also suggest having a look into PayPalDev.org, as technical queries and advice are also plentiful there. Best of luck with that.

Hi,
Unfortunately moving my query here has actually made me aware that the lack of an international postage function is a far greater issue.
Can you please let us all know if this is something that might be added in the future? If so id be prepared to change my whole website and just accept paypal payments (I currently use another option as well) and I am sure others would too. Sure it's such a simple with huge benefits for both sides.
I have looked through the forum you directed us too but although, as you quite rightly state, queries are plentiful unfortunately answers are not.
I also looked at your HTML advice centre but it's illegible at the moment with text overlapping everywhere (when viewing through chrome anyway) and the information is not clear enough for those of us who only have a basic knowledge of HTML.
Please could you raise this issue with some decission makers to see if this could be added.
Thank you

Never used the help button before on PayPal, but have become
so frustrated with trying find out how to create international postage for
non-uk customers I arrived here and what a surprise, there are hundreds, if not
thousands out there on the WWW all trying to find the same solution.
I am stil lcoming to terms with the fact that a Blue Chip company like PayPal has not
provided this facility so that non-website developers of the pro variety can
integrate this into their PayPal buttons. This is the most basic of IT
technology so why hasn't PayPal done this yet?
Yes I can override the preferences and create individually priced
buttons, we all know that, it's written there and you keep banging on about it
instead of just saying “NO” you can’t do this with PayPal, international customers will pay the same as UK ones!

As i have said in another post, use two separate buttons, one for international one for local, maybe paypal will get the message, there is no reason why UK can't have international postage on shopping carts..
It is both senseless and frustrating......
