Can I disable and enable international shipping with a basic button?

HI,

I'm using a simple buy now button. I can't see anything anywhere about international orders? Can I enable them and disable them? If I don't have the option are they enabled or disabled by default?

I have set up fixed postage charges, but obviously if someone orders on the other side of the worked it would cost way more, so if possible I'd like to disable international orders by default.

Thanks

Hi zandergrin,

It is currently not possible to disable international buyers within the PayPal account.

May I suggest that you add a note on your listing or website that your set postage is for set countries only and to contact you for postage information if they require an item to be shipped outside of the listed countries.

I hope this helps

Paula

Hi

I was just wondering how you differnetiate between national and international orders in terms of postage. Currently, all international orders are being charged the national rate of postage. How do i set it up so that PayPal can recognise an international address and charge a higher postage?

Many thanks

Pete

Hi Pete, you can customise postage costs you charge buyers who make purchases on your website.
Here's how to calculate postage costs for purchases made on your website:

  1. Go to www.paypal.co.uk and log in to your account.
  2. Click 'Profile' near the top of the page.
  3. Click 'Postage Calculations' under 'Selling Preferences.'
  4. Customise your postage costs, and then click 'Save.'

The HTML code in your shopping cart buttons under the 'Shipping' section overrides the postage methods in your profile. To offer free or discounted postage, for example, select 'Use specific amount,' and enter 0.00 as the amount. Hope that helps.

Barry,

I don't think you have answered Pete's question correctly.

Pete was asking how you differentiate between national and international customers.

Example.

Buyer 1 from the US purchases an item costing $50.00 shipping to the US costs $6.00 so the total would be $56.00

Buyer 2 from the UK purchases the same product but the shipping costs $26.50 making the total $76.50.

There is no option in the button factory to set different amounts for national or international customers and the postage calculations under selling preferences only allows you to set postage based on transaction amount or percentage NOT by country.

Hi there Carbon_Covers, apologies if you felt that the query was not answered correctly. I have also posted here on the same matter. Please review and feel free to contribute or leave another post. Thanks.

Hello,

I too feel that this question hasn't yet been answered.

Paypal offers postage by amount of one order t or % or order - but several times the question has been asked can a UK seller charge a rate of postage which is DIFFERENT from the International postage rate?  Setting up postal preferences by value or % will charge the same rate of postage to UK buyers and international buyers.

However, as an idea if I were to post some jewellery to the UK it would cost me approximately £2 to post it by signed for delivery.  If I wished to post the SAME item to the USA by international signed for it would cost me approximately £6.  Therefore to set different rates of postage on the SAME item depending on location is what everyone who has been asking the question is requiring - NOT to differentiate costs based on a customer's current value/ % order.

Does paypal offer this service in any other country other than the USA?

PayPal Barry...you keep answering the question everyone wants answered with an answer that has nothing to do with the question.  We ALREADY know how to set  up postage...that's not what we're asking.  What we WANT to know is how to set up different postage costs for different areas (national, international, etc.).  Can you PUHLEASE make an effort to give us the correct answer rather than copying and pasting something that has absolutely no relevance to our inquiries.  Good grief!

Aargh spent around two hours looking for how to set up for international packaging, only to be finally told on the phone that a simple button option for this is not available on PayPal UK.. Smiley Mad

I have found a way around this really awkward problem and that is to set up two different  buttons on the same item. One for UK and European  buyers and one for the rest of the world (International)!!

The difference between European and British could be mostly offset by  20% increase on initial price and then a standard rate applied. Since the difference between UK and Europe is only around £1.50 this doesnt pose a significant problem!

Then the higher shipping price to America and rest of the world  could be made on the second button and mark the button International Buyer!  But what a faff......

The only other way appears to be applying  a standard price with free shipping. Ok I suppose for Europe if you live in the UK, but way unfair on UK buyers on the offchance the item ships abroad.

Come on Paypal we need a simple option on buttons which can offer international postage!!!!!!!!!!   (=.=)
