verification code text yet i have not requested one?

I've just received a text with a PayPal verification code. I have not requested one? i'm presuming someone has tried accessing my account? password changed, security questions set up. I'm reluctant to setup 2 step verification yet because the issue was an unauthorised text sending verification codes. i will do this later.

Any other steps i need to do?

As you have already updated your password & security questions,  no further action needed from your end. You can add an extra layer of security to your PayPal account by enabling 2-step verification for login. You can check more details about the  2-step verification here.
