Hi, I really don't like (hate it) the new interface, is there any way to use the old one ?

Thanks you!

The new user interface is better and easier to use.  You'll get used to it

3 pages of on this thread show that you are in the minority in that belief. it is far less functional and made like it's for a mobile phone instead of a desktop.

yes i can't get the report i need for new interface and i've tried phoning paypal manu times but can''t get past their robots on the phone - seems like they are so big now they are just like the banks they don't care about their customers and will just carry on doing whatever they want even if it is to the detriment of their users.

I am getting really cheesed off with both Pay Pal and e-bay and their constant annoying changes that make things WORSE!

I have now lost all access to the classic site. Now when I want to try and download last years payments & receipts I cant (dates just flicker back & forth). I now am unable to see my account history at all. This geeky new site is terrible and has less functionality. At least in the past I could go to the old site when I could not get what I wanted from the new one.

Its about time these two organisations get some competition so that they realise they have to have a modicum of customer service!

I completely agree with all the other entries. This new page is Toy Town stuff. What I don't understand is they tell you U.S . customer service is second to none. I haven't seen a sign of any here. They know we hate the style and substance so why not agree with us and just go back to the Classic page?

I have recently had my Bank details removed without my permission. As a result I had to pay twice for an eBat item and the seller repaid one of them. I was charged a £6 fee for my inconvenience and am still unable to get the remaining £148.50 back because PP can't get it's act together. They have finally re-opened my account after several days but when I tried to transfer the amount back was given a set of security questions. Each one I answered froze when I pushed the final send button.

Service, please don't make me laugh!

Wow. All of my credit cards were removed so I had to redo the deposit code process. Also I have my main bank account (Canadian) set as a Pay After Delivery and have used it as such for every transaction for AGES. Last month Paypal decided to select a US dollar chequing account I have strictly for US ebay sales, and charge that as my PAD and I have no idea how much I will need to deposit in CAD to ensure there is enough to pay for my over $200 purchase.

PayPal is currently one of the worst websites for usability that I've ever come across, and I've worked in software for 30 years. The interface is a complete mess and looks like a poorly-executed attempt on their part to harmonise the website with the mobile phone app.

The following method works for me sometimes:

  1. Click the Settings icon near the top of the page.
  2. Beside Profile, click Update.
  3. On the Name Change page, click Cancel.

The classic profile page is displayed.

Notes

  • I don't know of any way to get the classic profile page to appear permanently.
  • This method works at the moment, but I guess the classic profile page will disappear eventually.
  • This method works inconsistently across browsers. It's most reliable in Microsoft Edge, then Firefox, then Chrome.
  • There's a possible cookie problem on second tries of this method. If the classic profile page won't appear, try closing and then re-opening the browser.

What also drives me nuts is that unless I am in Classic View, paypal will not display my ebay transaction - it gives me an error that badically says 'whoops, try again later' but after a year of this BS, 'later' still has not come.

This works (on Firefox) for me. Thank you Phil-Champ for sharing the tip; it really shouldn't be so obtuse though. It does indeed seem they've removed the link that was there for a time to access the original site.

The new layout is yet another example of a company who think their website needs to appear HUGE (like a mobile app) which, bugs aside, immediately makes me think, in my mind at least, that things have been made for simpletons and indeed from reading this thread it does seem that certain features have been removed. In fact, using the classic site was the only way I could complete my Direct Debit contract and confirm the new bank account I'd recently switched to. The new site simply didn't work! The interface was there (more confusing actually if you ask me) but it didn't send the 4-digit code nor provide an option to send one again. To make matters worse, PayPal sent me an e-mail this morning informing me of this but providing instructions that only make sense for the old site!

You'd really think skinning a website would be a simple matter of just adding a new graphics layer but apparently not. I don't know what's wrong with their IT department but it always seemed in the past that computer staff could get their act together whereas they (and management) are more concerned these days with design before getting the inards working correctly. I'm all for things looking good, it is important, but the new site doesn't even look that nice IMHO!

Yes! Bring back classic view as a permanent option.  This 'new' design is text book example of how not to do Flat Design. Flat design should not impede or remove functionality.

We pay about almost a full point more on bankcard and clearing house fees by using paypal - we expect a professional product.  This 'new' design feels like a blog or wordpress feel to it.
