Not possible to update Time Zone

During account creation, no matter from which country, GMT-8 Pacific Time is set up as time zone by default. The time zone then cannot be updated to the time zone of my country, there are no options in the drop down menu. This will mess up all transaction time especially, if dealing within Europe but transactions are booked in GMT-8 Pacific Time. Can somebody, preferably a PayPal admin advise, how can I set up the right time zone on my account?

There are dozens of similar post from the last 2-3 years but NONE of them has been responded by PayPal.

Hello @Feriman, Welcome to the community forum and thanks for posting.

 

Here's how to update the TimeZone on your PayPal account.

  1. Log in to your PayPal account
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Under Account Options click the box for Time Zone.
  4. You will have the option to change the Time Zone here.

Hi @PayPal_Sean,

 

there is only one possible option, which is not my timezone (I'm living in CET timezone). I would like to set UTC +1 (CET).

I'm sorry to hear that the time zone options are limited to one time zone and that it's not the correct one. Please contact our customer service so a representative can gather more information to troubleshoot and document so technicians can look into it. To see your contact options, please click Contact at the bottom of the PayPal website.

This issue has been around for many years.

 

It's also very suggestive that most users struggling with issuea are Hungarians.

Hello PayPal_Olivia, Finally, after years, somebody from PayPal picked up this thread. After PayPal_Sean giving instructions that do not work, Olivia you advise us to contact your various departments that normally do not respond to queries. Can you escalate the issue internally with your respective department and, instead of us writing down the problem hundred more times, ask them to login to their own website to see that under the timezone menu only GMT-8 is available, the other 23 timezones are missing so they can finally fix it. In addition, while I searched this particular thread I came across at least a dozen other threads complaining about the issue. PayPal's ignorance about this long time complained problem is very disappointing and unacceptable.

I tried everything 3 years ago, contacted customer support, tried different browsers, tried to debug the problem, contacted you on social media, nothing worked.

I tried to contact with the support. The only message what I received is this below:

 

"Hi Ferenc, thank you for contacting PayPal Messaging. My name is Jayro and I will assist you today.

I understand that you are facing difficulty changing your time zone.
Ferenc, the GMT is the only time zone available for PayPal accounts. I apologize if this is inconvenient for you.
Please close the conversation by selecting End Message. Thank you for contacting PayPal and for being a valued customer."
 
I cannot beileve that nobody can solve this issue a long time ago.

I'm afraid at this time you will not be able to update your time-zone. This is feature that has been requested already to be implemented by PayPal.
