I, like hundred's even thousands of others am past my limit with this ridiculous policy. I started a topic months ago "IM not going to ship items until the hold is released". Well since then horror stories have poured in, I get at least 20 responses a day on it, Papal acting like the SS Storm Troopers of the virtual void and freezing accounts as a result of speaking up, complaining about this policy. Well it appears paypal has no intention at all of changing this policy. Why should they? The greedy big-wigs sit back and collect millions in interest every single DAY on our money that they hold until a lazy or inconsiderate buyer decides to leave positive feedback. Or 21 days, whichever comes first. If you notice though, Papal takes their fees out right away.
I went with First Data Merchant Services to accept credit cards, They give you a free online shopping cart, a terminal to process credit cards, and a few other really cool perks. They charge 2.19% + .25 cents per transaction. It is sent directly to your account. THEN you send the item. Like the rest of the normal world. You want something, you pay for it, it gets sent to you. For f**ks sake, it is such BS. And I have had it. There is a class action lawsuit being filed against Paypal, they are violating the Electronic Funds Transfer Act. Since they aren't a bank, they don't have to follow any of the regulations that financial institutions have to follow if they are holding your money.
I truly hope that some day Papal comes to their senses, its not fair and not right. WE have the power in numbers as consumers, but we have to act and unite to bring them to their knees. They obviously are not concerned with customer satisfaction. I for one will not use Pay pal as soon as I can make the transition. Not for selling. Let me know what you think!

I have been selling on Ebay since 1999..........living in a depressed community such as ours, this is my only means of income..............now with this hold on funds, and our instructions to ship immediately...........what if you send a perfectly good item, and buyer decides to either not leave feedback, or complains about the item? So they get the item and their money back...........this policy is illegal, and I for one will not be listing any more items until this is corrected. We might have known that something like this was coming, when the policy came down, that only PayPal would be accepted!

If you upload the shipping info or print the label thru Paypal the hold will be released in 3 days after proof of delivery. Even if the buyer never leaves feedback. It still s**ks, but it's better than 21 days.

Thanks for the tips and links. I am having issues with this new hold policy as well. I am trying to build up a business on ebay, but I dont have thousands of dollars to keep tied up in a PayPal acount while I am paying for shipping out of pocket. My policies state clearly that I give accurate item descriptions and i do not take returns and I am not responsible for well packaged items lost or damaged during shipping. PayPal does not have the right to withhold money until the customer tells them they are happy with their new purchase. If they are not happy they should take the appropriate and due course within the legal system. PayPal, the last I knew, is a corporation not a court of law. Since the only legal reason they would have to hold my money would be non-shipment, they should release it as soon as a confirmed tracking number is entered. I pay the PayPal fees, not the buyer, and i pay them so I can recieve payments more quickly. I don't feel that 21 days is quick. I just may go back to having the customers mail a check or money order!

Hey, All you folks that are being ripped off and told how to run your business by the paythief. The company that thinks they can run your business better than you can.. That you can't take care off your customers.. If you take care of your customers they take care of you. But paythief thinks you need help doing this. So they will hold your money till they make sure your customer is happy. What a bunch of paythief B_ll sh_t.......
I have been researching and working hard to replace the thieving beast.. Paymate is OK but slow.. I have found a merchant. Thanks to another paythief scorned seller working hard to make his business survive the paythief beast.
He suggested First Data Merchant.. Looks very promising.. Much to learn yet.. Doesn't seem to complicated so far..
I will keep you all posted. Keep the alternative suggestions flying. Don't feed the beast... It will soon starve..
Thanks Everyone & Happy Hunting... Dennis (ebay id x48ziggy)

things you should know about First Data Merchant Services... wolf in sheeps clothing? Check out their history below... I for one am looking for somthing else besides First Data Merchant services... I have used Alert Pay and found the quirk is that until you have $100 accrued in your account it costs more to transfer than PayPal.
First Data Merchant History:
In 1969, the Mid-America Bankcard Association (MABA) was formed in Omaha, Nebraska, as a non-profit bankcard processing cooperative. Two years later, First Data Resources (FDR) incorporated in June to become a for-profit organization providing processing services to MABA. FDR had 110 employees and $2 million in annual revenues. First Data is an agglomeration of various cooperative associations which were initially established to provide credit card data processing services for member banks. These include Eastern States Bankcard Association; Atlantic States Bankcard Association; Southwestern States Bankcard Association; Mountain States Bankcard Association, and Western States Bankcard Association.
In 1980, American Express Information Services Corporation (ISC) bought 80% of FDR. The remaining 20% was purchased in 5% increments each subsequent year until June 1983. First Data Corporation spun off from American Express and went public in 1992. In 1995, the company merged with First Financial Management Corp. (FFMC) and was then organized into three major business units serving card issuers, merchants and consumers. Western Union became part of First Data as a result of the merger with FFMC.
By 1998, First Data was providing transaction processing services not only in the U.S., but also in markets around the world, including the United Kingdom, Australia, Mexico and Canada. The company also began to see significant growth in its network of Western Union agent locations. This set the stage for First Data to become a leading global provider of electronic commerce and payment solutions to businesses and consumers worldwide.
From 2001 through 2005, a period of expansion occurred as First Data acquired companies around the globe and in the U.S., including the $17.8 million acquisition of PaySys [1] and their VisionPlus System [2] and the $6.6 billion merger with Concord EFS in 2004, which added the STAR Network and PIN-based debit acceptance at more than 1.9 million ATM and retail locations. Additional acquisitions and strategic relationships included GovOne, the creation of eONEGlobal as a venture capital fund, the acquistion of Paymap, Inc., a company servicing electronic payment products, and the acquisition of Taxware, which would be merged into a new entity, named Velosant to spearhead broad Supply Chain Management initiatives. First Data also established a consumer payments brand which would take Direct Debit offerings to the retail marketplace. First Data further expanded geographically in Europe, Asia and Latin America.
In 2005, First Data was among 53 entities that contributed the maximum of $250,000 to the second inauguration of President George W. Bush.[1][2][3]
On January 26, 2006, First Data announced its intention to spin off Western Union into an independent publicly traded company through a tax-free spin-off of 100% of Western Union to First Data shareholders. The spin off occurred as planned on September 29, 2006.
On April 2, 2007 it was announced that Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR) had entered an agreement to acquire First Data (NY Times article) in one of the largest leveraged buy-outs in history[4], and on October 1, 2007 KKR officially took over the First Data Corporation. Ric Duques retired, and Michael Capellas, previously the CEO of MCI, Inc., the president of Hewlett-Packard Company, and also the chairman/CEO of the Compaq Computer Corporation was appointed CEO. As a privately owned company, First Data's stock was taken off the New York Stock Exchange on September 24, 2007. However, the company's LBO was financed with $24 billion in debt, and it remains heavily leveraged.[4]. The company continues to maintain investor relations pages on its web site and to publish quarterly financial results. Within two months after the KKR acquisition, the company laid off 1,700 employees across North America, Europe and Australia, about 6% of its workforce.[5]
First Data entered the Ireland market in a joint venture(JV) with Allied Irish Banks plc (www.aib.ie) named AIB Merchant Services on January 18, 2008.[6]

The best way I have found to deal with the 21 day hold is upload tracking numbers of all my shippments in paypal. Once delivery is confirmed, paypal will release funds three days later if you call them on the phone. It has worked for me and funds are released right then.

Paypal has ruined my business with the 21 day hold. About $1000.00 dollars being held and I can't buy more product and my customers are going else where. They have no complaints against me, but treated like I'm a crook. I will find another way to do business.
PAYPAL **bleep**!!!!!!!!!!

Ok so about this whole 21 day hold thing...I don't like it at all but I do have a question so what should I do about shipping my items to the buyers? Because I really don't have the money the way the economy is now like that's why i'm selling ebay but I'm scared that if I don't ship my items on time that I'll get negative feedback and I don't want that but it's not my prob that I can't get to my money and the money they paid for shipping. What should I do about this??
