Classic view makes business EASIER

What a blatant lie Paypal are trying to feed us.
"We're retiring the classic account experience to make business easier for you."

No, put the crack pipe down. I run a business. That means I have PC's, not mobile phones, not tablets, PC's with large monitors and a mouse.
I never have to worry about fat sausage fingers mashing away at a 3.5 inch screen and not being able to hit a link, I have a 24 inch monotor and a mouse that gets me a link every time.

Having 8 transactions on a summary is useless, I have 18 in classic view, that's EASIER to find a recent transaction!!!

I can right click and open a link in a new window in classic.....CAN'T do that in mobile mouthbreather view.

I have a nice, neat, small, compact interface laid out logically in classic, I have an overly large chunky button driven abortion in the new view.

Why are Paypal presuming to tell me it's an improvement, when as a PC user it's inferior, time consuming, poorly designed, and anything but efficient.

Let me make this clear again, BUSINESS USER, on a PC, not a retail user on a smart phone shopping or playing at eBay.

Stop telling me what I want and start asking, it's pretty clear you're wrong.  I DO NOT WANT TO WASTE TIME ON THIS NEW MOBILE APP, I WANT A WORKABLE EFFICIENT BUSINESS TOOL!!!!!!!!!

I 100% agree. It's so inefficient that i am constantly switching back to classic. However, I see now that they are forcing their new view.

PayPal, it DOES NOT "make our lives easier" and is NOT "better". At least not for SELLERS. That's OK, Stripe.com is looking better and better.

I have told them this many times, I also find that not having mega fast broadband the page loads so slow (even when I was on the phone to them it timed out) that it just shows a red error banner.
I was also told on the phone that 'parts of the new experience' is not compatable with windows 10 (yet they said) and had I got another computer I could use?

Also found that as stated in the OP the 8 transactions per page is a joke, the only time the page worked I moved to the next page and got the payment details and forgot to go back to the home page to see if anybody else had paid whilst I was messing about, so missed an order.

My paypal routine is to get the customers amount and name (as the email system as stated by paypal themselves can take 24 hours to arrive as there is a glitch in it) so each morning log into paypal, find the last payment I received in my order book, copy down the new payment names and amount and exit......

In the last 12 years this has taken about 2 minutes per day, with the 'new' system it can take 30 seconds or more to load then either time out or error.   Whilst I was on the phone we worked out to check the 8 transactions per page would take me about 20 minutes if it did not time out or crash. (moving backwards and forwards through the pages ).

If its aint broke let paypal break it for you...

Also got told that if I want the classic view back then open an irish paypal account as they dont want the new view and it is not being forced on them as they want the classic, so close down my uk account and open an irish one and use the irish site.....
(that is secure then, can't have a UK account in the UK have to pretend to be in Ireland. )

What a joke paypal is now...

Completely agree, Classic is what we are used to, I log in to my sons business account as I do his book keeping. I found the new look site & checked it out, I checked the Paypal info provided & this was woefully lacking in any detail. When I opened "viewing all activity" there appeared to be no obvious way to download what I was viewing or printing it. To print I used the browser facility but really had to shrink it & had to check online to find out how to download, but I have not tried this yet. Considering people use business accounts for there living & also provide Paypal with a large revenue I feel the support provided for this pointless change is poor & time consuming for us. If it was done to help mobile & tablet users I feelmore research should have been carried out as to the impact to existing users.

There are only a couple of reasons I can think of  for PayPal switching to the new front end,

My opinion is to some extent a qualified one, having a Masters in Computing and having managed development teams in the Banking Industry.

1)  They are reducing the useability in order to bring out a new seller front end that will require a subscription.

2)  The people making decisions have been brainwashed by brainless twerps who form over substance using a change in server technology as the excuse to phonify the front end with wishy washy text and reduced information.

BUSINESS SELLERS DON'T USE A MOBILE PHONE TO MANAGE SALES

Lets not pull any punches, the new view is going to cost us, as sellers, money !

It takes much longer to process a days transactions, with a far greater chance of making errors.

The interface is awkward and difficult to use, looking more like a phone app than the front end to a banking institution.

Some of the changes do seem to be better, but as far as the classic view vs. the activity view is concerned, no contest.

I don't suppose anyone from PayPal with any clout ever bothers to read our comments...  but I would be happy to welcome someone from PayPal to my office in order to demonstrate how the new style is without doubt a step in the wrong direction for business sellers..

But, its never going to happen..     just another irritating nail in the coffin of common sense and useability.

By way of illustration, a simple example of what we face every day.

10 items purchased (mixed domestic and overseas)

3 need tracking information added and to be set to "in process" at the time the tracking information is generated

(eg when the tracking label is removed from the roll and stuck to the package)

all 10 will be sent using royal mail

Postage will be applied using a franking machine (because it is considerably cheaper than the online PayPal / RM integration)

so when the items are all delivered to the post office,  the remaining 7 items need to be marked "sent"

and the three with tracking information need the tracking information updated to "sent"

using the classic interface, this takes a total of about 4 minutes

I estimate a minimum of ten minutes for the new interface and more chance of error.

The classic interface leaves a lot to be derired, but the new interface is a disaster.

If the classic interface allowed the selection of multiple items to set to "sent"  it would be almost perfect !

The new interface does not even allow the display of items that have been paid for, but not yet sent !

I am SICK of this childrens playground layout.  I am trying to run a business around all this tomfoolery.  I've spoken to a paypal rep today and she said they are getting loads of calls about this from similar business users all day long - all saying the same that its now impossible to run a business through the site.  She couldnt comment but said she would take my comments to her line manager.  Today they removed the "classic site" option from the help section that was there till last night.  She fears it permenant.  I mentioned an "online petition" and she said "paypal wouldnt want that for publicity" - cant someone start one ?????

I used to love paypal, used it for the last 14 years+ and always easy to use, the new view I can not use, it is slow to load, never see the information I need as not on superfast broadband and takes a couple of minutes to load if it loads, keep getting a red banner saying 'error try later' and constant spinning blue circles.
Trying to request money from trade buyers is a joke, a lot of my customers now ask if I accept other types of payment as they do not trust the new paypal look and find it a pain to use. So brilliant idea paypal, you are pushing people away from using what used to be an easy way to pay, to a total inefective waste of time.

Well,

You could blow me down with a feather !

I went to add tracking information today using the new view ( I usually switch to the classic view first)

I don't know why, I just did..  I only had a couple of tracking items to add so I guess I was just lazy.

Nothing surprising at first..  the tracking entry dialog seemed somehow familiar

but then..   when I clicked to save the tracking data...

THE PAGE THAT CAME UP WAS THE CLASSIC HISTORY VIEW !!!

and it works the same as the old view..  adding tracking opens a new dialog, not a new page..  BRILLIANT

If this is permanent, it is the best thing PayPal have done since I joind back in the dark ages.
