Hello, (We would always address you by your full name as it appears on your account) As part of our security measures, we regularly screen activity in the PayPal system. We recently contacted you after noticing an issue on your account. We requested information from you for the following reason: We have reason to believe that your account was accessed by a third party. (At this point you should check your PayPal account by logging in outside of this email. You will notice there is no such email) We have limited access to sensitive PayPal account features in case your account has been accessed by an unauthorized third party. We understand that having limited access can be an inconvenience, but protecting your account is our primary concern. Case ID Number: PP-661-601-986 (I've checked and this case number is totally unrelated) This is a third and final reminder to log in to PayPal as soon as possible. (We would never put a 'final reminder' on your limitation like this) Once you log in, you will be provided with steps to restore your account access. We appreciate your understanding as we work to ensure account safety. In accordance with PayPal's User Agreement, your account access will remain limited until the issue has been resolved. Unfortunately, if access to your account remains limited for an extended period of time, it may result in further limitations or eventual account closure. We encourage you to log in to your PayPal account as soon as possible to help avoid this. To review your account and some or all of the information that PayPal used to make its decision to limit your account access, please visit the Resolution Center. If, after reviewing your account information, you seek further clarification regarding your account access, please contact PayPal by visiting the Help Center and clicking "Contact Us". We thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. Please understand that this is a security measure intended to help protect you and your account. We apologize for any inconvenience. Thanks, PayPal Account Review Department PayPal Email ID PP638 |

Thank you, this was so very helpful. I knew I was being SPOOFED/ SPAMMED (I don't know the difference) but the little buggers are so persistent. I have received at least 10 email in the passed week alleging messages for instant payment are not being received; there is a URL that they do not exactly ask me to click on but I suspect it is a live URL for a reason.
So, thanks for your edits. But I'd still would like to know how I can report these type of emails directly to paypal so that they are aware of the different scams going on in their name.

I received the same email as Hespie's above this morning. I sensed it was a scam by the 'Dear paypal user' opening line but it seems to have come from the email address service (at) paypal (dot) co (dot) uk (edited to allow posting)
Excuse my total naivety with things like this but how do they do that?

I had exactly the same mail sent to me a few days ago. When my name was not at the top i forwarded it to spoof@paypal to ask if it was genuine. I have now been sent the same mail again telling me that they had recieved my question and i should respond by following the instructions. This is when i joined this forum. It is obviously a scam but a very good one. I have since deleted the mail without opening the attachment. Thanks for your help.
The message heading was PP-503-472-569

I have recently sold an item and the buyer agreed to pay through paypal. Before my account was credited with the money, paypal asked me for the shipping number, which means I had to send the item before the funds had cleared. I then recieved an email saying the server is being upgraded and i will recieve my money within 5 hours of the upgrade. I wasn't not told how long this upgrade will last for and I'm not sure if it's even real.
I have a terrible feeling I've been totally scammed and will recieve no money for my item. Please Help!!
