Hello, (We would always address you by your full name as it appears on your account) As part of our security measures, we regularly screen activity in the PayPal system. We recently contacted you after noticing an issue on your account. We requested information from you for the following reason: We have reason to believe that your account was accessed by a third party. (At this point you should check your PayPal account by logging in outside of this email. You will notice there is no such email) We have limited access to sensitive PayPal account features in case your account has been accessed by an unauthorized third party. We understand that having limited access can be an inconvenience, but protecting your account is our primary concern. Case ID Number: PP-661-601-986 (I've checked and this case number is totally unrelated) This is a third and final reminder to log in to PayPal as soon as possible. (We would never put a 'final reminder' on your limitation like this) Once you log in, you will be provided with steps to restore your account access. We appreciate your understanding as we work to ensure account safety. In accordance with PayPal's User Agreement, your account access will remain limited until the issue has been resolved. Unfortunately, if access to your account remains limited for an extended period of time, it may result in further limitations or eventual account closure. We encourage you to log in to your PayPal account as soon as possible to help avoid this. To review your account and some or all of the information that PayPal used to make its decision to limit your account access, please visit the Resolution Center. If, after reviewing your account information, you seek further clarification regarding your account access, please contact PayPal by visiting the Help Center and clicking "Contact Us". We thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. Please understand that this is a security measure intended to help protect you and your account. We apologize for any inconvenience. Thanks, PayPal Account Review Department PayPal Email ID PP638 |

Hey there,
PayPal won’t ask you to ship an item if the transaction is not able to be viewed in your transaction details. The payment may be placed on hold and not in your available balance, but you will always see the transaction showing in your transaction log if payment has been made.
If you don’t see the transaction then you haven’t been sent any funds. Even if a payment is pending you will still see a transaction marked as pending.

Hey there,
Bellsophie2012, yes this email is not a genuine PayPal email.
You can tell from the first sentence “Dear PayPal user,”. PayPal will always address the email to your name registered on your PayPal account.
Lisa2012, do you know if the direct debit with your bank account has been cancelled? If so you would get this type of email.
If a payment fails form your bank account we do request the funds from your back up funding source that you have registered. It will say in your transaction details on PayPal if the funds have been requested from your card.

Hi, after recently being subject to a scam IE £187 being taken from my paypal account in 18 x £10 and 1 x £7 denominations I thought I would share my story and show you a very good scam email.
I run a business online and have regular payments coming to my account. My paypal email address is readily available and Sunday I logged on to my account to check a payment and all my money apart from that mornings transactions had gone.
I am usually very good with spoof email's so I wasn't aware that this could happen. I immediately phoned paypal and asked them to lock my account (providing I could still receive payments)
I then started to clean all my hard drives etc to try fish out the problem.
When I thought it was safe I changed all my passwords etc and asked paypal to lift the limits.
After my account was restored and everything was sorted out I received an email.
This email was different to others I have ever seen. I thought it was actually quite good.
It came from a paypal email address
It addressed me by my real name as on my paypal account
It had colour
It had links
It had the "Fraudulent or ‘phishing’ email" warning
An edited screen of the email
After the problems I had over that couple of days it would have been expected however, thinking ahead straight away I open a different webpage and logged into paypal to check.
I then forwarded the email to paypal and they confirmed my suspicions
Hope this helps people in the fight against scams 🙂
