Hello, (We would always address you by your full name as it appears on your account)

As part of our security measures, we regularly screen activity in the PayPal system. We recently contacted you after noticing an issue on your account.

We requested information from you for the following reason:

We have reason to believe that your account was accessed by a third party. (At this point you should check your PayPal account by logging in outside of this email. You will notice there is no such email) We have limited access to sensitive PayPal account features in case your account has been accessed by an unauthorized third party. We understand that having limited access can be an inconvenience, but protecting your account is our primary concern.

Case ID Number: PP-661-601-986 (I've checked and this case number is totally unrelated)

This is a third and final reminder to log in to PayPal as soon as possible. (We would never put a 'final reminder' on your limitation like this)

Once you log in, you will be provided with steps to restore your account access. We appreciate your understanding as we work to ensure account safety.

In accordance with PayPal's User Agreement, your account access will remain limited until the issue has been resolved. Unfortunately, if access to your account remains limited for an extended period of time, it may result in further limitations or eventual account closure. We encourage you to log in to your PayPal account as soon as possible to help avoid this.

To review your account and some or all of the information that PayPal used to make its decision to limit your account access, please visit the Resolution Center. If, after reviewing your account information, you seek further clarification regarding your account access, please contact PayPal by visiting the Help Center and clicking "Contact Us".

We thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. Please understand that this is a security measure intended to help protect you and your account. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Thanks,

PayPal Account Review Department

Hey catweazle,

You’re right, this email isn’t a genuine PayPal email. The biggest give away is the very start. We would never use a generic header if we were emailing you. We always say your full name at the start of every email. We’d also never ask you to log in through a link, but would always advise you go directly to PayPal in another window.

If you receive an email and are unsure you can forward it to our fraud department at spoof@paypal.com for review.

I received this email this morning:

This email confirms that you have added the following address to your
account:

5 Birchdale Avenue
Bedfordshire, MK42 8NU
United Kingdom

If you did NOT authorize this change: Check your account

Needless to say I checked my account - not from that link, I didn't come over on the last boat! - and that address isn't there. I Googled it, though, and it does exist.

It's either scam or a mistake on Paypal's part.

Hi, first one i had said i had agreed to make payment of £18 to some company, not being too 'bright' on the matter i opened the link that offered me to ( cancel ) transaction, as the window opened, realised what i had done. Went to Paypal help, fabulous, concise and so thorough was the help, followed all 'tips'. I have now recieved another email reguarding same, 'Account will be suspended' 'Third party' ect. ent to my account, no sutch thing. Wayn, thank you, time and trouble appreciated, made me feel confident enough to 'post' this for all other novices. If it does'nt address you by your name, it's not real. I had on the last one 'Dear Client', thats how i knew. Spoof on rampage eh? Stay safe folks.

Has anyone had tha scam e mail about purchasers winning back their purchase and for you to put banners on your web site. This is addressed to your name and looks very real. I fell for it then thought about it, spoke to paypal who confirmed it a scam and then quickly deleted the banners. Does anyone know if anything sinister would have been left on my computer. The other scam e mail just had is about improving your purchasers experience when buying.

Just received this mail, I know it's a scam but quite a good one as the spelling and grammar isn't too bad! Needless to say, on logging in to my PayPal account I found no such 'problem'.
