A friend is giving me her dog and I am paying for it via Friends and Family to avoid fees, I've noticed that PayPal now has a check box to add Buyer Protection to this process, does this mean using Friends and family now provides buyer protection?

Hi @GTOCali,
Welcome to the forum! I'm sorry that there is confusion regarding the availability of Purchase Protection, and I am happy to clarify.
If the checkbox is marked, the transaction will be conducted as a goods and services payment, and fees will apply. Any transaction involving the purchase of an item or service should be handled as a goods and services payment, in order to apply the protections that PayPal offers to both buyers and sellers. Friends and Family payments are intended for gift payments that do not involve the transfer of anything that has value.
I hope this helps!
Olivia
