Very frustrated!!!

I purchased an item two weeks ago on eBay utilizing my PayPal account.  Less than 10 minutes later, I received an e-mail from eBay claiming that the item was posted with a compromised account, and that the transaction would be cancelled.  However, PayPal still charged the dollar amount to my back-up funding (bank account). The amount remains unclaimed by the seller.

My frustration stems from PayPay's unwillingness or inability to get my money back.  I cannot dispute the transaction through eBay (message says PayPal won't allow it), and I cannot dispute it through PayPal because it's technically "not complete".  Customer Service responses keep focusing on disputing the transaction, or requesting a refund from the seller (which I've done three times to no avail).  I just want my money back so I can buy the item elsewhere.

This is not a large dollar amount...but I'm really concerned that my money can be held in limbo for a significant period of time, despite the fact that eBay has confirmed a hacked account on their end.  I spend thousands of dollars every month through PayPal, so this is really concerning me.  I don't feel that all of the "customer protections" in place are actually protecting me...and I hope that PayPal isn't making money on my suspended funding, because that would be really bad.

Thoughts?

Unclaimed payment will be reverted back to the sender after 30 days.

Ebay is right, you cannot dispute the transaction since  seller never receive the payment

sender cannot cancel payment, only the recipient can .

But since this is a compromised account, the seller  cannot access the email .

That was my point to PayPal...if the account is hacked (potentially), why do I have to wait to get my money back?!?!

can always file chargeback with your cc issuer, but that would take time too.

But some issuer will issue you a temporary credit while the chargeback is being investigated.

If the money is not claimed, it will go back to your account automatically and back to the payment method used.  With card payments, it takes 30 days for it to appear back into your account.  Should read the help topics in the help and contact page about the ins and outs of your PayPal account before gettin mad at PayPal.

Because PP has a gazillion accounts and they have an automated system and these things take time.

Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂
