AAAGH! Unauthorised label charges by EBAY. No help from PAYPAL

I raised two error payments on my account with Paypal, only £2.80 each but that's not the point!   I was advised they were Ebay charges and I needed to sort it out with Ebay. Wasted nearly an hour dealing with two incompetent Ebay workers who insisted two lots of £2.80 were charges on sales!

The entries stated two second class labels, one February and one end of March. They hung up on me because I became so frustrated with their lack of common sense.

Is this a scam, so that Ebay first make up charges, which is atrractive income? OR is it a scam by calling these charges labels instead of fees? They refused to escalate my complaint so I could speak to someone sensible!  Either way - Paypal won't act against their friend and EBay doesnt care! They receive healthy income from long phone calls, after all!  Too late now this evening to resolve what are illicit charges, where, if you fail to check your account carefully, it would appear they are free to charge without any customer authority! They just enjoy bouncing customers between them!

eBay and PayPal are totally separate companies and business entities.

Who made the error on those payments?

Why weren't the addressed when the errors occurred.

I'm not clear from the explanation what happened or didn't happen.

I am aware they are supposed to be separate entities but from other comments on here, I am not the only one who seems to believe they have very incestuous and beneficial behaviours, at the least.

The error would appear to be Ebay claiming small postage amounts when I did not request, nor use, for a label. I consider a further error was made by Paypal for allowing access to my account.

The fact that I was not using my account, and only recently spotted illicit withdrawal of funds - I do not use the account as frequently perhaps as other customers, but in preparing annual accounts spotted the two withdrawals.

There is the possibility, I do accept, that maybe these are genuine charges from sales - but if so, why would Ebay withdraw money calling the charges, labels???  Either a way - a scam!!

Did you conduct any return transactions around those dates in which eBay bills you back for the shipping costs, that you may have forgotten about or didn't know you were responsible for?

Have to ask.

Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂

I had ended a long burst of activity and never inspected my account - I had no reason to do so, they were both quite small amounts.  Sounds like you expect to support the company rather than the customer to be honest!  I didn't expect illicit amounts to be taken! I foolishly thought my account was safe and didn't expect 2nd class postage charges to appear!

This is a user forum, not PayPal customer service.  Users do not have access to any of your account details and can only help if you are willing to provide details that can help another user get to the base of the problem.

If you want direct help from PayPal customer service you will need to phone them and talk to an agent.

Are you an Ebay seller?

If you are,you can use Ebay to print shipping label and Ebay will charge your Paypal account for the cost of the label.

If your customer who bought from you and then claimed item not as described and Ebay rules in their favor, you are responsible to pay their return shipping.

THis is how it works in USA,

seller then have up to x number of days to send buyer a return shipping label via the case ,if seller does not do so,Ebay will do it for the seller, sending a return shipping label to the buyer.

Once the buyer downloaded that label and use it to return the item,USPS will scan it and charged Ebay.

Ebay then turned around and charged the seller by debiting his seller account .

Now could EBay just charge his Paypal account instead of his Ebay seller account,it is possible,

These are possible reasons you see these shipping charges from Ebay, only you know if they are so?

I did sell two items, but neither item was returned to me. I dont discount that the buyers might have asked for a label - the truth is, until both companies start studying the transaction details and accept they might be incorrect, the better.

I will then be able to understand why I have  been charged for labels I did not request nor use.

Thank you for the suggestions.

If you have sold two items on Ebay, did you print your shipping labels on line either thru Ebay or Paypal ?

Shipping labels are not free, and they are charged to your PAYPAL account.
