Unable to use PayPal Extras MasterCard OR PayPal credit

I have been unable to use my PayPal Extras MasterCard since 8 Aug. When I try to use the MasterCard as a credit or debit card, it comes back with “We can't process your payment. Please select a different payment method or check your payment details." I applied for PayPal credit and was accepted, but I'm unable to use that also. PayPal Credit comes back saying “Your application can't be processed. We're sorry but you won't be able to use PayPal Credit for this purchase. Please choose another payment method.”
Why, all of a sudden, did these payment options become unavailable to me? I have credit available but when I purchase something on eBay and proceed to checkout, these options are not available to me.
An agent just said that the merchant must offer PayPal Extras MasterCard as a payment option, but NONE of the merchants that I checked have that in the payment option on their eBay listing. They have PayPal Credit, but I AM NOT ABLE to use EITHER of these payment types.
This only happens upon checkout. I go to checkout, click on PayPal, sign in to PayPal, and then it DOES NOT give me the option to use PayPal Extras MasterCard, and when I try to use PayPal Credit it gives me the error message above.
I have spent 6 hours on the phone trying to figure this out, and I've sent a few messages to you.
What is going on please? I've sent several messages and I've received no replies.

Any MasterCard card should be accepted when pay directly by MasterCard.
As for PayPal Credit, did you actually get approved?
Do you actually have a physical PayPal MasterCard card?
I think think PayPal allowed one to have 2 separate credt accounts.

I tried on several occassions to pay with the PayPal Extras MasterCard using the credit card system, and it still would not let me. I got approved for the PayPal Credit, and am unable to use that. And yes, I have a PayPal Extras MasterCard in my hand.
I'm just surprised that it quit working all of a sudden, and no one from eBay or PayPal has been able to help me.
Thank you for your time!!!

From my understanding, PayPal will not extend 2 separate credit accounts, i.e., MasterCard and PayPal Credit. I suspect your MasterCard was deactivated when you were approved for PayPal Credit.
Probably best to phone PayPal customer service to confirm; make sure you ask very specific questions. Make sure you get transferred to PayPal Credit service and then to MasterCard service. You will need to reach specific help people.

Thank you.
I've been able to use my MasterCard, any where other than PayPal. And I've called so many times I have cauliflower ear. I guess I'll just deal with the hand that I've been dealt!
Thank you for your time!

If you already have a PayPal cards product linked to your account, you will not be able to add PayPal Credit to the same account. You will need to open a new account and link it to your PayPal Credit.
That was an odd answer coming from an agent, that in order to use PayPal Extras card the merchant has to offer it. In the PayPal Extras FAQs, it says that "You can use the PayPal Extras MasterCard anywhere MasterCard® is accepted in stores and online, whether or not the site accepts PayPal payments." eBay accepts MasterCard right? lol
Um, double check your account info on eBay to make sure it matches your PayPal account. Did you change your home/cell phone or address recently on Aug 8th?
Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂

No, there were no changes to anything on my account: phone number, address, nothing.
I didn't apply for PayPal credit until the MasterCard quit working, so I'm truly stumped.
Thank you for your help!

Same here. I've probably spent and sold over $50,000 on eBay and PayPal over the last 10+ years. Then I get this Mastercard replacement from the PayPal buyer credit, and after two months it stops working... No messages, no phone calls, just Zero Credit available. I even paid the balance in full. Looks like I am going to cut it up and have them close my account I've had for 15 years...I've logged in daily for a month to see if it gets fixed, nada....Three guesses where customer service is based.

I don't understand it at all. I wonder if they'll lose enough money by this situation that maybe they'll look into the "glitch". Good luck! If I hear anything I'll post here to let others know.

I came across an old thread which said Paypal has been checking up on its members more closely as to their buying habit, returns, cancellation, disputes and bill paying habits,if they become nervous you may not pay your bill, they could limit your buying power.
