wrote: This just happened to me as well. I sold an item on ebay on 1/27/18 and got notice that I had received payment that same day. I shipped the item on 1/29/18 and it has been received by the buyer. This morning I got an email from Paypal saying my payment was cancelled. Looking through the records on Paypal I see the following when I switch to the classic site.. " Reason:   This payment was automatically returned by PayPal on Jan 27, 2018 because the funds were unclaimed for 30 days. I was not aware that I somehow had to "collect the funds," I'm not even sure how to do this. And it hasn't even been 30 days yet! It's been just over a week. So now the buyer has received the item and I'm out the $305 I was supposed to be paid. How can PayPal and eBay allow this to happen?? ----------------------------------------- Today is Feb 7,2018,so the 30 days expiration does not apply. This message does not apply to your case. what could happen is buyer uses bank transfer, since he has a credit card linked t o his paypal account,Paypal advance the money and pay you instantly and then go after his bank account, figure if it fails,it can always charge his credit card. It turns out he has no money in his bank account or he closed his bank account and cancel his credit card,so Paypal just take the money back from you. HI risk items which can easily be turned into cash are the ones which are being targeted ... View more

Hello Goteșeanu,   I'm sorry to hear of this negative sales experience. That is very unfortunate, especially if the buyer has been dishonest about how this damage occurred. If you have received the item back in a condition you do not believe it was sent originally, you should have the option to appeal the case. By doing this, PayPal will investigate the case further on your behalf and if possible, provide a reimbursement on the item back to you.   You will need to contact us directly in order for us to be able to appeal the case on your behalf. When you contact us, please let us know what the exact condition of the item is and we can forward the information to our claims team for you. You can do so by clicking "Help & Contact" at the bottom of most any PayPal page and select the option to call us or email us. You will want to provide the case ID, transaction ID and any supporting evidence that you may have. Then this claim will be opened for review and you will be able to upload additional evidence.  I wish you luck with your future endeavors and thank you for being a contributing member of the PayPal Community.  ... @mtkouch  Wow, this is embarrassing that nobody replied to your post the day your Auction ended.  Well first, in order to list an item usually eBay requires that your PayPal account be linked and verified so the fact that you have an Auction ending makes that part seem okay.  Next, if you have the PayPal box checked on the item AND your email address in the little window then when the Buyer pays the $$ will go directly to your PayPal account. Next, when the Buyer pays AND you see the transaction in your PayPal account that it is paid for you pack it and ship it.  You can print labels through eBay - PayPal and get a discount on First Class & Priority Mail shipping plus USPS offers Parcel Select which is a lower cost method to ship but no discount for Sellers. New Sellers can have their $$ held up to 21 days but if you use tracking (always use tracking btw) then when the package shows Delivered the $$ can be released within 3 - 5 business days. ... @nguyeus_fhw1z  Normally when you have the Immediate Payment required the Buyer HAS to pay immediately.  Be careful, iphones are big scam items.  If the Buyer messages or texts you saying they need you email address to process the payment DON'T GIVE IT TO THEM ... that is a scam.  Also, you may get a message that looks like it is from PayPal saying the phone is paid for and it is okay to ship ...DON'T SHIP until YOU see the $$ in your PayPal account AND it does not say Pending!  You item is one of THE biggest scam targets on eBay so be very, very, very careful. If they do not pay in 2 days you can process a UPI (Unpaid Item) in eBay's Resolution Center ... then wait 4 days for the Buyer to pay, if they don't then you can close the case and relist.  And again, MAKE SURE you have the Immediate Payment box checked on the item listing form if you Relist it. ... Re: Refunding a buyer on eBay

@kasperkes02  I read your post and am a little confused.  Let's try some details.  If a Buyer processes a Return request through eBay's Resolution Center you get a message to accept it with some options on shipping.  If accepted you wait for the item to be returned within the time the claim allows.  Okay, now, the item comes back, what I've seen is a message from eBay that you simply click on and the refund is completed with the Buyer ... I have never run into any "holds" on $$ during a properly processed Return claim. Next, do you tend to drain your PayPal account of $$ so what might have happened is you don't have enoough in the account to cover the returns?  If that is the case I believe PayPal can dip in to your checking account for the $$.  I typically keep a good amount in PayPal in the unlikely event of a refund on a higher dollar item. I've only done a few refunds on returned items and have never run into the situation you describe .. if they are holding $$ I am unaware of it and have enough in the account to refund the Buyer ... ...
