You may verify that the email address they sent the payment to matched your PayPal email address. If it shows that the email address matches, it is possible that these are fake screenshots. If a payment is received. you will receive an email immediately from PayPal and you would be able to see it on your PayPal Activity page. If the transaction does not appear in your activity, it is likely a scam. I know that can be tough to spot a scam these days. If you have received an email update for a new message from another PayPal user, there will be a link that directs you to the message. If you have not received an email, you may locate this message by locating your transaction with this other user. Within the transaction details page, click "message" and this will bring you to the conversation with your counterparty. The PayPal inbox Message Center is for notifications from PayPal or PayPal Customer Service.
