To get approved for "Buy Now, Pay Later" does Pay Pal check credit each time?

To get approved for "Buy Now, Pay Later" does Pay Pal check credit each time one uses BN, PL or only the the first time? I keep my credit agency accounts frozen so do not wish to freeze and unfreeze each time I want to use BN,PL.
