Holding funds from sellers until the buyer leaves feedback is the worst idea EVER! Since when does Paypal become an authority on buyer satisfaction?? A smooth transaction is all that I wanted from Paypal. If they are going to hold funds, then they should make it very clear BEFORE you use them! Keeping my money in their account for 21 days is a HUGE disadvantage of using Paypal. Stick to transferring funds, not trying to be a satisfaction authority!

I sold a guitar on ebay and the purchaser requested we use pay pal so we did. The price was $1,080.00. Pay pal will only give me $500.00 per month for two months. I tried to confirm my credit card and my social. The social worked but the credit card I have to wait another month to get my credit card statement and then get the pay pal code from the statement to confirm it. Meanwhile these **bleep**ing pay pal people have my money. I WILL NEVER USE PAY PAL AGAIN AND I DONT RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE ELSE EITHER. **bleep** PAY PAL. Once they have your money they can do what they want with it. ITS SOME **bleep**ING CROOKED **bleep** **bleep**.

What more do I need to do before I am given my money? It has been over a week since I shipped the item and received positive feedback from him and my money is still being held.

You have to tell Paypal about it - they're not going to guess.
There's a place in the Paypal entry for that.

Actually you shouldn't have to tell paypal about it. On one of mine as soon as feedback was left, they released the funds. However, on another one, its been on hold for 14 days, I have sent 5 emails to the buyer and not one response. Delivery confirmation shows it was recieved. I have sent paypal a message, but no response from them either.
Overall, this is a very bad system.

I had made a post of this but I think I posted in the wrong section. I had made rescent sells on ebay, But paypal is holding my funds, this is ok. But they also hold shipping costs. How am I suppose to ship the buyers item if I have no money to pay for shipping?? but yet they can take their fees out right away. Not to mention what if the buyer gives false info/feedback about the item? Are they refunded and im out the shipping cost and the item cost? this is nonsense.

You finance the shipping amounts out of your own pocket, like millions of other businesses do every day.

That is all and well if you are running a business from eBay or you are are augmenting your bricks and mortar business with sales on eBay. If you are the occassional seller that might list a dozen or so times a year it's different. My wife and I use eBay occassionally, like for spring cleaning or just wanting to sell those gifts we all get but never use and to have to wait two weeks for your money is sometimes not fair. We have a feedback rating of 100%, in fact we have never received negative feedback, half the time people don't bother to leave feedback at all. It kind of defeats the purpose of using Buy It Now with Immediate payment required. This actually happened to a friend of mine, he sold a beautiful antique fly fishing rod and reel on eBay, the purchaser never left feedback. After approx. ten days the buyer wanted to return the item because he said he didn't really need it. My friend would not accept the return just as it was stated in listing. The buyer then left negative feedback and received his refund through PayPal. He returned the rod and reel. My friend told me that you could tell that the buyer had used it because it was dirty and had a artificial fly tied on it That was the first and last thing he ever sold on ebay. When your selling bulk or just a lot of items paying for shipping is usually not an issue but if you're selling for fun or just to make a couple of bucks paying for shipping out of your own pocket can be an inconvenience. I've been a member of ebay since 2000 and sell occasionally. When ebay first start they were not dominated by businesses and now, ten years later they seem to be. It definitly puts the occasional seller at a disadvantage. However I have never had a problem and will always use ebay and PayPal. PayPal certainly could not make the shipping process any smoother then it already is. It is the best and the easiest that I have ever come across.

You are absolutely correct when you say that paypal does not care about the small sellers. What they fail to recognize is that us small sellers when banded together create HUGE sales. The holding funds policy needs a lot of work. To place this hold on sellers who have a spotless ebay account and have kept it that way for YEARS is so very wrong on so many levels. I always thought the saying was: Innocent until PROVEN guilty......not the other way around.

Surplusdude - I cannot believe you even took the time to type this ridiculous statement! You tell me ONE business in this entire universe that ships any item without getting payment for both the item and the shipping costs because I want to deal with them.
STUPID, STUPID, STUPID!!!!

You know, I sell stuff on eBay because I "NEED" the money. When I sell something, I would like the money quickly. I DON'T want to have to wait 21 days to get paid! This may help the buyer, but what about the seller? I don't go to Sears and if I see something I like, walk out with it and tell them, I will pay you in 21 days "IF" I like it! It's almost not worth posting anything on eBay. Whatever happened to the good ole days when you bought something, you paid for it?
