Holding funds from sellers until the buyer leaves feedback is the worst idea EVER! Since when does Paypal become an authority on buyer satisfaction?? A smooth transaction is all that I wanted from Paypal. If they are going to hold funds, then they should make it very clear BEFORE you use them! Keeping my money in their account for 21 days is a HUGE disadvantage of using Paypal. Stick to transferring funds, not trying to be a satisfaction authority!

Every time I make a sale, PayPal holds my funds and I don't know what to do about it. Is it because I have been getting negative feedback on eBay? I tried contacting PayPal several times but I did not get any answer. I have no idea on what to do, I am at a loss, can someone please help me?

I just started and once i finish selling what i have of inventory i will close paypal and never again. They hold money that im not even sure they will give back? Im afraid to ship anything now in fear that paypal will hold money again. Its more dangous than standing armys. Give the power of there money suppy and i care not, who makes there laws. No more paypal.

Obviously, you didn't read the rules ( as the other complainers have also failed to do) or you would have realized that all new sellers are subject to the 21-day hold.

Follow these steps to remove “payment holds” from your account (please note if your item has not been delivered these steps will not work).
1) Log-in to paypal and click ‘help’ (located at the top right corner of the site)
2) Then click on ‘Contact Us’ (located at the bottom right corner of the site)
3) Directly under the title ‘Email Us’ is a link labeled ‘Send us’, click this link.
4) Fill this in with the appropriate info (don’t go into detail on your issue at this time, just vaguely create a sentence that sums up your problem)
5) Afterwards you will receive an email that’s labeled something like this ‘Auto-Response Payment Status (XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX) ppk1’ from a specific email address (I'm not allowed to post the exact address on these forums for some reason) .
6) Reply to this address and give this information:
a) Paypal transaction ID #
b) Shipping provider (UPS, Fedex, USPS, etc.)
c) Tracking # for the item
d) And then describe in full detail the situation of your transaction.
7) If you’ve met Paypal’s requirements for hold release, then they will lift the payment holds.
You may have to do this per transaction.
Oh and all you guys unable to ship because you need the money first to pay for the shipping, I think it's ridiculous. They should definitely fix that part of the new policy. Allow people to print shipping labels with pending funds you donkey suckers!
Hope this helps - Dan

Hi Dano27,
Welcome!
If you print labels and pay for shipping through PayPal or eBay, the cost of shipping will be released from your pending balance shortly after purchase. Printing labels on eBay and PayPal is free. You're charged only the cost of shipping.

I think it is a valid question with paypal. I just sold something on ebay that is not in the list of unusal items and the payment was held for 21 days. I immediately refunded the payment.
I will not deal with Ebay ever again. It is wrong to just hold peoples money. I know for a fact that when this happens and I played by the rules it too over a week to get the money. Paypal will not release until buyer leaves feedback.. Well guess what buy never left feedback and I shipped overnight provided Fed Ex tracking...probably a mistake since Ebay PayPal are not in bed with Fed Ex but I get a better rate through Fed Ex.
This is my last use of ebay. I may use paypal but I am dobuting it. I hope someone comes up with something better or comprable to PayPal.
People will go to this new site quickly...I know I will.

THERE IS NO LAW THAT REQUIRES BUYERS TO LEAVE COMMENTS ABOUT THEIR EXPERIENCE WITH THE SELLER. WHEN I PURCHASE AT WAL MART, OR SEARS OR WHERE EVER, I DON'T NEED TO STOP & LEAVE COMMENTS ABOUT MY EXPERIENCE. SOME PEOPLE JUST DON'T LIKE PUTTING COMMENTS IN WRITING & SINCE THIS IS THE USA, WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO LEAVE OR NOT LEAVE FEEDBACK. EBAY & PAYPAL HAVE NO RIGHT TO HOLD MONEY UNTIL FEEDBACK IS POSTED, BECAUSE THEY CANNOT FORCE A BUYER TO DO WHAT THEY WANT THEM TO DO. THERE ARE MANY OTHER WEBSITES THAT YOU CAN USE. WHY DON'T YOU CHANGE TO A DIFFERENT AUCTION SITE?
