Please help, Im not really new to paypal but I have never had a request to send money I have always just paid through paypal without any problems.
I recently had to claim a dispute with regards to a seller. He had a item for sale and following a telephone conversation and a request for me to send a deposit of £100 through an email address the said item would be removed from auction and I was to go pick it up the following week. I informed seller I was unaware this method of sale was genuine to be told it was fine although item was not removed and ran the full auction with not one bid on it.. Unfortunately my house was burgled and everything I possessed and my 3 kids Christmas present where stolen. So I emailed seller pleading against his better nature for a refund as I could no longer commit to the sale, I also said i would gladly pay relisting fees. My requests and pleas feel on deaf ear and seller refused to answer any communication at all. So I therefore went through papal eventually a dispute claim. The seller also refused to answer to paypal also. So therefore I was very surprised when I view dispute statue to see it closed. The outcome said paypal were unable to decide the claim in my favour at this time. Then under it stated to me on 20th dec refund initiated then refund issued I don't understand it, is the refund for the seller or me as I haven't got any monet back, or the refund for the seller as mi aware a hold is placed on funds if a claim is brought against you.

Hey katieboo, it looks like the payment that you made was a deposit. With a deposit you are not going to receive an item for that money, it is merely sent by you to the seller as part of another payment that remains uncompleted. For this reason, you cannot open a non-receipt claim against it.

hi there OMG that is so out of order! theres so many scams on ebay its scary! i would of been on the phone to paypal untill they sorted it out! if you still havent received your money i would still do this tell them that you were told it was ok to do that leave a deposit, i know usually when it comes to deposits you can lose them but im not sure how you stand with this? if i were you i would ring ebay aswell and explain whats happened to them sometimes i find paypal are helpful and ebay arent and vise versa. You could try reporting him to the police aswell aparantley i was told the other day that there are usually a police officer that deals with ebay reports in each police station so it might be worth having a chat with someone.
dont give up on it though because i wouldnt! i would be persistant usually you have to be! it also seems abit odd that you happened to get broken in to the same time? maybe it was just coinsodence but you never know! i feel sorry for you its something im sure you wont make the mistake in doing again! i nearly done a simlar thing myself the other day i seen in a listing of some horse rugs that on the answers they said they had more that they hadnt listed so i asked the seller if they would sell me one and they said if i send them £30 they will send me a rug but i thought id better not because if i dont receive it theres no way of getting my money back! i would definiatly try doing what i said i know by now you've probably claimed down abit and are maybe letting it go but i wouldnt if it was me!
lianne 🙂
