I sold an item on ebay for £300 and went through my paypl account for the money. I had an fraud email throuh paypal saying the money had gone into my account however realsed after sending that this was a fake email. Ebay have cloed my case and now i have not only lost my product but lost £300 to someone using fraud. When i try to open a case in the reslution centre it only really has help for buyers not sellers.

Isnt there something i can do to claim at least some of the money back? As i went through my paypal account?

Never again will i sell to Nigeria or oversea's its not safe not even trough paypal

I have just narrowly avoided to same fate! I too received fake emails (that looked genuine enough) confirming that payment had been deducted and would be credited to my paypal account when i sent item and provided a shipping tracking number.

Although i excluded all areas apart from europe in sale, the woman gave an address in Nottingham initially then after the sale, she asked it to be sent to lagos, Nigeria as it was a present for her auntie (yeah, right!). I contacted ebay through live chat and they have blocked the account and refunded fees back, which i appreciate. Other than that they basically washed their hands of the matter citing lack of powers with police services to take the matter any further ... they are like 'teflon' because nothing ever sticks to them!

AND THIS HAPPENED TWICE ON MY FIRST 2 ATTEMPTS TO SELL ON EBAY! ... its not as easy and secure as they profess and i've lost any faith in actually selling my item now.

In short, my advice is not to send ANYTHING until the payment is in and then transfered to your bank! And to be very wary if selling items that are £200 plus (especially electronics) ...

To many scammers in this world and not enough honesty. shame!
