Opened a case and it closed automatically as soon as it was opened

I opened a case against a seller who refused to refund me for a service they failed to provide. I supplied Paypal with screenshots of my convo with the seller. Paypal instantly closed the case in my favor as soon as I submitted the case. I'm wondering what happens on the seller's end - are they given a chance to dispute this, or did Paypal immediately close the case, refund me, and side with me without letting the seller give input? Is it possible the case could be reopened and we'll go thru the dispute process?
