Sent back item to be remeasured, now no item or refund

I bought a vintage dress through a Facebook group and used PayPal on April 11th. When it arrived, I noticed the dress’ measurements were incorrect, and sent the seller a photo of the dress asking for a refund upon return. She said that I should send it back and she will remeasured it, if the measurement is wrong on her end she would refund me and if not she would send the dress back. A week after my package was delivered, I asked her if she had any updates and she sent back a picture with the tape measure loosely draping the bust, claiming she is correct and I don’t get a refund and she would send back the dress. I could see through what she was doing but just figured at this point I would try to resell it to regain my profit. But it has now been over two weeks and I have yet to receive a tracking number for her sending it back. Should I escalate to PayPal to get a refund? At this point, the dress is in her possession again.

Hello @Erin12333,

Welcome to our community help forum and thanks for posting!

Sorry to hear about the issue with your purchase. If there's any issue with the purchase, our purchase protection policy covers the payment and helps you to get refund if certain requirements are met. If you sent the payment as goods and services, you can report the issue towards the transaction in the resolution center of your PayPal account.

You have 20 days from the date you opened the dispute to resolve it with your seller. If your seller isn't responding or you can't come to a resolution, you can escalate the dispute to a claim. If you escalate your dispute, PayPal will review it and decide the outcome. You can always check the status and updates of your dispute at any time in the Resolution Center.

I hope this information helps,

Bindu
