Have I been scammed?

I mistakenly thought a restaurant was still in my community. So, I found Chez Nous and sent 100.00 via PayPal. I tried to contact the seller, only to find the email on my receipt is a fake. It came back to me. It was for a gift certificate that I never received. So, why wait 8 days when it was supposed to be emailed to me as soon as payment was accepted. They already took the money. WILL PayPal refund me? Thanks for any help!

Open an item not received dispute in the Resolution Center if you haven’t already. Keep in mind that there is a process to the PayPal’s dispute resolution with timelines so you may have to allow time for an outcome instead of an instant refund.

Thank you for your post and welcome to the Community Forum. I'm so sorry to hear that the money was sent to an illegitimate seller!

 

As @sharpiemarker mentioned, a dispute can be opened, if the transaction was one for Goods and Services. You can find directions for opening a dispute here
