Money missing

I had money in my PayPal account I had not withdrawn yet. I had bought something while it was in there but opted not to use the money in my PayPal however that money is no longer in my account and I can’t see where it’s gone.

Click the purchase transaction you just made, what does it say next to "Paid by"? 

You may also have had billing agreement with the merchant you purchased at set up previously and it took payment from your PayPal balance by default like all billing agreements do.

Go here to check:

Go to Account Settings (gear icon) > Payments > Manage Automatic Payments

Select merchant on left and look at the settings on the right.

Keep in mind that payment method settings in billing/automatic payments are different and separate from preferred payment method setting in your PayPal Wallet.
