WHY IS THE PAYPAL WEBSITE SO **bleep** SLOW??????

Is it just me, or is anyone else fed up of waiting 2-3 minutes to log in to paypal, and on average 30 seconds for each web page to load? This is the slowest website I use BY FAR.

And yet, other websites - many of which are free to use and have much more content to load (youtube etc.) - manage to load pages, media etc. in a fraction of the time paypal takes. And we pay for paypal!

PAYPAL - you are the worst website I use, and one of the most expensive services I pay for. SORT YOURSELVES OUT WHILE YOU STILL HAVE CUSTOMERS!!!!

I think the point is the paypal site is painfully slow when other sites browsed at the same time are not.

Operating system has nothing to do with it because we have all used both windows and apache sites that have ranged between slick and painful.

Generally cookies and cache also have nothing to do with it. Unless that is, paypal specifically say that for, whatever reason, there is sometimes a need to clear just paypal cookies and cache.

We DO need a clear statement from paypal before we waste time clearing files

Any feedback from PayPal on this??

I have also just started using PayPal on my custom designed shopping cart, and after all my hard work making my website slick as **bleep**, PayPal is letting me down with very slow speeds when customers are ushered over to make payments ...

What is being done about this?

I am searching for other providers as I make this comment, and I would not have done that if the speed was "normal".

Such a huge company really needs to get it together or someone else will steal market share fast ... and its adios PayPal, nobody is untouchable hombres!

I have found PayPal to be incredibly slow for the past several weeks. Its current speed makes me long for the relatively high performance of a dial-up modem of the last millennia. When dealing with PayPal, it is important to remember that they are a company, and a primary goal of nearly all companies is to maximize profit. So it must be their belief that the current level of performance of their web site is the best tradeoff between cost and convenience for their customers. Since they enjoy a nearly monopolistic position in their industry, there is little motivation to provide exceptional customer service. So the question becomes one of how to increase the penalty they incur for poor customer service. That is, how can PayPal customers make a slow site expensive for PayPal. I would suggest that one way to accomplish this goal is to complain to a customer service representative (a real person, not an automation) when either you or one of your customers is experiencing a problem. Perhaps PayPal is really not aware of the issue. But if they are, hiring more people to hear about a known problem over and over will cost real dollars and thus add a penalty for the speed of the site. Should anyone choose to contact PayPal, I have found their phone numbers at http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=500638

+1 I just wanted to purchase a Humble Bundle and pay with paypal. After I clicked on the login button and waited 5-10 minutes for the login process to complete i canceled and proceeded to pay with amazon. After 10 seconds everything was ok. I am quite sure if I payed with google it would have been similar. You want to play with the big boys but your performance is just embarrassing.

it must be something with paypal.com vs https://www.paypal.com and the hops it has to make to get it to the site.  Or try googling paypal and then click on the first link.....seems to go much faster for me at least.  So weird.
