Can't change password to old PayPal account (incorrect phone number)

Hello!

So a while back I got an email that an old account of mine was inactive and would be charged a fee. I decided to log in to that account but it told me I needed to change the password. I went through my two security questions and then PayPal told me it needed to ring me to confirm.

The number listed was my very very old phone number from 2007, which I do not have anymore. No way of changing it, no way over using another verification process. I have now tried ringing PayPal and after some annoyance with the robot I managed to get through to someone. Low and behold, the connection cut out because they've got some sort of server update in their call centre.

The long and short is, can someone from PayPal actually get in contact with me and let me change the phone number on my old account so I can log in? Or even better, just delete the old account.

Hello @dogtowel

Welcome back to the PayPal Community!

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty logging into your old PayPal account to prevent the inactivity fee. Since your contact information is out of date, I would recommend reaching out to Customer Support again. We have a few different Customer Support options that might be beneficial. In addition to contacting through the website, you can also reach out through Twitter (X), Facebook, and Instagram. If you no longer plan on using the account, as you have a newer one, they might be able to help you close it.

I hope this information helps!
