I, like hundred's even thousands of others am past my limit with this ridiculous policy. I started a topic months ago "IM not going to ship items until the hold is released". Well since then horror stories have poured in, I get at least 20 responses a day on it, Papal acting like the SS Storm Troopers of the virtual void and freezing accounts as a result of speaking up, complaining about this policy. Well it appears paypal has no intention at all of changing this policy. Why should they? The greedy big-wigs sit back and collect millions in interest every single DAY on our money that they hold until a lazy or inconsiderate buyer decides to leave positive feedback. Or 21 days, whichever comes first. If you notice though, Papal takes their fees out right away.
I went with First Data Merchant Services to accept credit cards, They give you a free online shopping cart, a terminal to process credit cards, and a few other really cool perks. They charge 2.19% + .25 cents per transaction. It is sent directly to your account. THEN you send the item. Like the rest of the normal world. You want something, you pay for it, it gets sent to you. For f**ks sake, it is such BS. And I have had it. There is a class action lawsuit being filed against Paypal, they are violating the Electronic Funds Transfer Act. Since they aren't a bank, they don't have to follow any of the regulations that financial institutions have to follow if they are holding your money.
I truly hope that some day Papal comes to their senses, its not fair and not right. WE have the power in numbers as consumers, but we have to act and unite to bring them to their knees. They obviously are not concerned with customer satisfaction. I for one will not use Pay pal as soon as I can make the transition. Not for selling. Let me know what you think!

I agree that it is somewhat of an inconvenience, and would love to see the hold released earlier (or never put on in the first place), but there are actually a couple other different ways around it that people should know about. If you get a delivery confirmation number on your package (It costs .75 extra at the post office) and enter that information into the transaction details, even if the buyer doesn't leave feedback right away the hold gets released only 3 days after the delivery is confirmed. Or if the buyer doesn't pay for the item right away through ebay you can send them an invoice through your paypal account (not through the ebay invoice system) and when they pay the invoice you send them through paypal the money goes directly into your paypal account with no hold on it at all.. Hope this helps everyone a little bit until something else can be figured out..

I take payments and deposits for puppies I sell to the public. I am really upset with Pay pal right now. Once that puppy leaves here I loose control of it. I looked back on my acccount, and see that the purchase price is on hold. What for??? I cant use the money right away, but my client left with the dog. This is not fair. when I go to a store, and pay by credit or debit, they have my money and I have the item. very simple. I am sure Walmart would be very upset if I left with a TV and my money was on hold. No they would not put up with that. Why should I have to with Pay Pal?. I am now looking into other methods of payment.
They do not back me up when I need them. I had a dispute recently with a seller on ebay. they sided with him, . he sold me a 1114.75 saddle, and the size he said it was was untrue, and it was way too small for me, but did Pay Pal side with me NO. How fair is that???? So now I am stuck with this saddle. I THOUGHT Pay Pal was a good thing. NOT ANYMORE> I will try to tell everyone not to use it. From now on.

As the victim of a scam on Ebay (and a rather large purpose), I think it's perfectly fit that funds are held. I just got resolutions, and hopefully, if this works out i get my money back, since I never got the item. Without this rule, I never would have gotten my money back...some of you should know how that feels.
If you can't afford to spend your own dime on shipping on money that you'll get back eventually, you shouldn't be paying for an internet connection...or the digital camera you bought to take the pictures of that item.
This is business. Large or small, people often have up to a 30-day waiting period for services/products rendered. There's no reason any of you should be any different. If it was a more perfect world, there wouldn't be scammers, and this wouldn't be necessary to protect the BUYERS...you know, the people who help you make money. If you're at all serious about selling your item and protecting yourself, you'd know this is the way to do things in the real world...if not...go to craigslist.

DJDoubleXL if you read the posts most people are just upset because they can't access the money to ship. Okay so they need to hold the money until its delivered BUT If I go to print a shipping label from paypal it should at least take the money from my paypal funds wether or not they are on hold -- if they can take out their fees immediately they can give you the $10-20 bucks the buyer paid for shipping and hold the rest until its delivered. All the statements people are making are true - if you go to any other store and pay, the payment is instant! They're not going to let you leave with the product without ensuring their money is on hand, thats why if you write a check now it instantly goes through your bank account -- no waiting.

I have no problem with that deal, but not everyone is on it. Also they are judging the compliant. Feedback is better. You would buy any thing on the internet if you see it has complaints against it. Besides, do you really think Ebay is using this policy to help the buyer??They can make good interest on a 20 day note, that's why it is illegal for a bank to hold money over 7 days.
If you are selling under this policy, please let me know and i will buy and return it to you after 20 days, then tell me how you like yhis policy.
