i have recentley started hireing our caravan out at butlins we have had a customer who provided a name address and telephone numbers (which i thought were attatched to each paypal account)this person hs now claimed chargeback and has been awarded it by his credit card company.Even though i have sent attatched files of the booking form which u need to collect the keys from butlins e-mails between myself and the buyer confirming his address ages and names of his party plus emails confirming he had a great time on the holiday and thanking us for the use of it.I have also been into butlins to confirm the keys were picked up and returned WHICH AGAIN CAN ONLY BE PICKED UP WITH THE BOOKING FORM I SEND OUT !! its unfair my account is in negative balance because of a dishonest person.Sellers have no protection at al and i'm disgusted paypal expect me to resolve my negative balance for a holiday that was taken.Well i'v now requested paypal get their fraud department involved because i'm willing to take this all the way to court. What is the point on verify an account if paypal don't help sellers use the resources they have on file.

if anyone else can give me any advice i woud be greatful the next step will be the police as paypal are been pretty useless at the minute but are quick enough to send me emails regarding my negative balance.

regards lisa and jim

Hi there Jimandlisa,

When a chargeback is filed, the buyer contacts their credit card company to dispute the transaction with them. We then request information from the seller in order for us to try and dispute the chargeback with the credit card company.

Ultimately, the credit card company make the final decision on the outcome of the case. We can only try to dispute the outcome of the chargeback with them and we can also try to provide coverage to you under our Seller Protection Policy. As the item you sold was a service and not a physical item, this means that you would not be covered under our Seller Protection Policy.

Have you received any updates in regards to the chargeback? If we are disputing the chargeback on your behalf, you may be advised that it can take up to 75 days for the credit card company to get back to us with a final response on the outcome of the case.

If you wish, you can contact your local police for them to investigate this further on your behalf. If they require, they can contact PayPal directly and request any information that they need in order to assist with their investigations.

If you would like more information about the current status of the case, you can try contacting customer services directly for more details.

I hope this information helps,

David.
