PayPal Here - Collect customer information - how to retrieve it?

Hi 

I used my PayPal Here card reader for the first time over the weekend and I'm really happy with it.

I have one question - after you've made a sale it gives you the option to collect customer information. I asked my customers if they'd be happy for me to contact them and add them to my mailing list, and many of them entered their email address and first name into the PayPal Here app.

How do I access this information? I can't find a way to retrieve it.

I am afraid not- I believe the team have been looking into this as a priority but now believe there may be an issue with recording this information. They are working on resolving this and I will be sure to update as soon as I have received an official response.

I think I have the same question, but let me state my question to see if this the same problem:

I sell something via PayPal Here, and the customer gives me their email address for a receipt.   I want their email address to add to my mailing list.  But when I pull up the transaction in PayPal.com, the email address is always <gobbledegook>@ dcc.paypal.com  - not the email they entered for their receipt.

Furthermore, I'd really like it if, as you'd think it would work, there is an IPN transaction with my MailChimp connector that feeds in directly.  I am finding that this IPN connector only works if I do invoices within PayPal.com

Welcome to the community!

Firstly, I am afraid it is not possible to gather customers email addresses when they pay through PayPal Here. This is a feature we are working on at the moment so will update with any changes!

In relation to your IPN's, you should receive a notification for each payment received once you have the correct settings updated. You can check this under Profile & Settings > Account Settings > Communications

Just switched to PayPal Here from Square because I was told there was a way to allow customers to opt in to joining an email list after their purchase. Any updates on this feature and retrieving customer e-mails? Thank you for your time.

I'm a bit confused why we are being asked if we want to retain customer information if you don't have this service available?  i saved my customers information on the basis that this was the only way i could contact them regarding their order - i now cannot access that information and have no way of contacting them.  what do you expect us to do when you haven't actually said the saving customer information isn't available anywhere in your paperwork????

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thinks this is a pointless function!!

We sell DVDs of an event that are sent out 30 days after so we used paypal here and saved all their information onto the app after each purchase thinking we can export an excell list of all of the names, email addresses and home addresses. We were wrong!!

We had to put the iPad next to the laptop to copy each name and address (150) from the Paypal Here app to an excel spreadsheet!!!! thats crazy!! it was either that or copy and paste each line of address!!

I rang up Paypals 'helpline' and they said "They had not heard of anyone else with this problem, the Customer Information is only for refrence" I don't understand why you would ever collect customer information if you would never use it or export it? It seems like a pointless function!! Maybe they could just instead of being defensive listen to the customer (Thats ACTUALLY using the app) and try to get it as a function!

I also don't understand why I can not access the customer information on the Paypal website?? I don't really understand where this information is and why we cant get it!!

Please let me know how I can contact your developent team Siobhan as I'm close to sending my two Paypal Here readers back and going to Barclays!!!
