Do I understand it correct - When selling on Ebay an item which is paid to my PayPal account and buyer asks to cancel purchase, then PayPal keeps refunded payment fees? Due to PayPal issue with linking my bank account I was called today and person asked me to provide my full credit card number for verification.   How do I know that this is real PayPal support agent and not phishing attempt?   ... View more

Yesterday I attempted to link my PayPal account to my local bank account, which is in EU and PayPal supported country. Linking failed because I never received a phone call to verify my identity with onscreen pin code. Today I was called from phone number located in Dublin and after short introduction agent requested my whole credit card number for verification of my credit card. To my question about security this person replied that everything is safe because this phone conversation is recorded. I don’t understood what security can offer unknown phone number asking my credit card number when recording this conversation and asked politely to end is unsecured support session. What do you think was it correct to interrupt phone support session when full credit card number is required? Perhaps this was indeed a real PayPal - but somehow I don’t believe, when there exist more secure messaging. But person knew I tried to link my bank account yesterday. Actually should be addressed to PayPal but they are out of reach by common communication means.   Perhaps there is something I can do? Last 2-3 weeks I receive all Ebay sales payment confirmations by Email without country name in recipient address. At best there is 2 letter abbreviation like GB,SE. But sometimes no country at all. When registering letter local post clerk asks weather GB is UK or Gibraltar? Or what do these letter means if there is some exotic Asian country. But I don't know. How to avoid fatal error, when buyer clicks to tracking link in Papal, then response is "seller is preparing shipment", despite the fact that item was shipped weeks ago and successfully traceable on International Post tracking sites. Looks like tracking is linked to USPS, despite the fact that USPS doesn't track shipment between 3rd countries.   Why? How to fix? ... View more
