“Something doesn’t look right. Your payment to this merchant can’t be completed using paypal”

I was trying to place an order from a website I’ve made purchases from before with zero issue. At first, when I put in my card info I got a pop up saying it was declined. After double checking my info and verifying there was no issue with my card or the associated account, I figured I would just use PayPal, as it was listed as an option. However, when I click the link to go to PayPal to complete the order, I keep getting a webpage that says: Something doesn’t look right. Your payment to this merchant can’t be completed using PayPal. Choose another way to pay.
I’ve had this PayPal account for years and never have an issue using it to checkout at online stores until now, and again, I am able to use my card on other sites. Is this an issue on the merchant’s end and should I contact them? Thanks.

The issue does potentially sound like it's on the merchant's end. However, here are some steps to try on PayPal's side to make sure everything is up and running: Why was my payment declined?
