How to accept money without SSN, ITIN or reject transfer?

I've transferred money from my Upwork account to my PayPal account, and now, to accept it, I have to provide an SSN or ITIN. However, I'm not an American citizen and do not have an SSN or ITIN. What can I do in this case?

You have a U.S paypal account so do you live in the U.S or another country?

Thanks for replying, I don’t live in US, I know I made a mistake, just want to know if it is possible to somehow release the money

Unfortunately you would not be able to withdraw it from your paypal account.

If you don't accept then hopefully it should bounce back?

If it does then close the U.S account (if you can) and open one registered in your own country.
