Why does Paypal keep using my credit facility without authority

Good Morning,

Paypal keeps using my credit account for re-occurring payments rather than my preferred method of payment which is my debit card/bank account.

I've even emailed them and they said sorry it was a malfunction but its now fixed. This was 3 months ago and they continue to do it each month. I know it might not be a biggie to some people but i would rather it come out of my bank account so i know where i am with my money.

Please don't tell me to setup a direct debit so i don't miss a payment because that's not the point.

Anyone else had this issue?

They have authority because you already giveth it at time of purchase. Recurring payments’ payment method is controlled by the Automatic Payments settings, not the Preferred Payment Method settings.

 What is an automatic payment and how do I update or cancel one?

All my automatic payments are set to 'my balance' or my card on file....
