Refund from a private seller

Hi all.I've bought and received an item from a private seller through an ad on a Facebbok group.I've sent him the payment for Goods and Services.

Item was inspected from the seller upon my request before buying just to make sure that there are no flaws and everything is ok.Seller gave me the ok and we proceed with transaction.

I received the item today (scale modelcar in particular) and the item has flaws that probably the seller missed due to his inspection.

We had a contact and he offered a return option for full refund. How am i covered in a situation like this?Seller seems cooperative and helpful (no disputes opened yet) but i need to make sure somehow that when he receives the return he will refund my money immediately.Purchase cost is 600€.

What actions needs to be done from my side for a safe returning proccess?

If you trust him then return the item but make sure you send back trackable with signature confirmation of delivery in case you have to open a dispute later OR just go via the dispute process BUT you then risk losing the claim as paypal may think the item does not qualify as 'significantly' other than as described, your call really.

However if you funded your paypal payment via a credit card you may have another tier to try if a paypal dispute fails.

Thanks for the reply. So your advice is to send it back trackable without open a dispute or claim in order PayPal can have a clue about this and interfere if something wrong happens?(seller receives the item back but does not refund). Also why losing a claim?Item is clearly not in the condition that I've paid for.

I gave you options, up to you which you use, as I said ''your call''.
