What happened to the "instant transfer" option for eBay and other payments?

My default payment method has always been "instant transfer" from my approved bank account.  It's been working just fine for ten years.  In my last transaction earlier today, the default came up as my credit card, which is unacceptable.  When I tried to change back to instant transfer, that option was not available, only the credit card and "echeck".  Echeck is not the same as instant transfer, and that could be a deal-breaker.

Is the system broke?  If not, how do I go back to my default payment method of "Instant Transfer"?  I can't find that choice anywhere.

I am so sorry to hear you were unable to use your bank account as an instant transfer to complete a payment.  It sounds like you have been a long time customer, and have never ran into this issue before.

PayPal uses a complex statistical model to identify unusual or problematic transaction patterns. This is similar to the way many banks and credit card companies work.  When this happens it can deny certain funding sources for a payment.

I apologize for the frustration that is has caused you.  Have you ran into this issue since then?

I am suddenly unable to use instant transfer from my bank account to pay for Ebay items too.  I was making several payments for purchases with no problem using instant transfer then suddenly I was told a minute later on my next purchase that I am no longer able to use instant transfer.  Now I can only use my credit card or e-cheque.

I have been been an honest and reliable buyer for years and have made hundreds (or thousands) of purchases using instant transfer.  My credit cards are years away from expiry and there are plenty of funds in my bank account.

Why am I suddenly no longer allowed to use instant transfer from my verified bank account, which I have been able to for years until now??  I am not allowed to use it even with sellers who I paid using it just days ago, so it isn't a seller's problem with security, nor have I ever been a security risk.  Paypal link in regards to this says one of us IS a security risk now. 

This is a problem with Paypal which I hope gets fixed or I will not continue using it.  I would like an explanation and/or a resolution to this problem please!
