You can add a Royal Bank account if you have the right numbers but it only works when moving money from Paypal to Canada, not the other way around. ING Direct offers a lot more flexibility in moving money around electronically (you can't move US $ in Canada online between major banks - you have to withdrawl it physically and deposit it physically or write a check).
So has anyone been successful in linking an ING Direct US$ bank account (in Canada) to their Canadian Paypal account?
US$ conversion: Canadian dollars to XE.com via electronic funds transfer (free) for best exchange rate, then to your US $ Bank of Montreal bank account (no monthly fees) which will fund your US $ Bank of Montreal credit card (no annual fees). But what would be the best is to sell on Ebay, move your US$ money from Paypal to your Royal Bank account, then move it electronically via ING Direct to your BMO account to fund that credit card. You always want to buy with a credit card....duh.
Actually what would be best is to sell on Ebay, then move the US $ to your Royal Bank USA account (physically in the US with no SSN needed), which will fund your Royal Bank USA credit card that you use to buy stuff on Ebay with. That would be more direct and efficient. But you need photo ID (driver's license or passport) so if you don't drive or travel you're out of luck...lol.

Sorry, that won't work. Paypal will not link a USD account to a Canadian Paypal account.
It might work for a $Cdn account, though - worth a try..

I have linked my Royal Bank US$ account (physically in Canada) to my Paypal account. It works. You just have to Google the proper numbers to use. Paypal will tell you it won't work. Royal Bank will give you the wrong numbers. You have to Google it. But only for moving money from Paypal to the Royal Bank. Not the other way around. But since any thinking person will use a credit card for buying protection - thats just fine.
