SCAM Alert: CCMOM.com

I just want to share my experience with CCMOM.com today and how paypal is not protecting the users.

On Sept 10 2023, I saw ads from Instagram for very cute kids clothes and I gave it a try since the website says that it has 30 day return protection and they take money through paypal which I think it is a safe transaction.

On Sept 24 2023, I received items, they was completely different than the website. I was pretty mad and contacted website right away. They offered me 20% refund resolution first which I have no intention to take it. The products I received are useless and I want to return them. I kept asking the seller for return address and I want to ship them back. The seller finally provide me an return address which is in China!!!

[Removed], Gongshu District, [Removed], China zip code [Removed]

Up one checking the usps shipping cost, it cost almost same as my total refund to ship it back.

On Oct 5 2023, I have no choice but to escalate a case to paypal and paypal wants me to ship it back to China for the seller

Around Oct 15 2023, I have called in customer service and explained my situation and the representative assured me that if the seller can't provide me a return label by Oct 17,2023, the case will be closed in my favor!!

On Oct 19 2023, I did not see case gets updated and called in again. This time the story complete turn to a different way. The representative and her manager told me due to policy, I have to ship it back to China in order for the case to proceed!!

I feel the paypal has no protection against scam!!! The oversea seller can sell you any **bleep** as long as it delivers and gave a return address which will cost you a fortune to return and makes the refund meaningless.

I will have to raise this issue with credit company now. I need protection but Paypal is not offering!!! Be aware!!!!

Chinese Web Sites or on Social Media ads easy to spot (once you know the below signs) so buyer beware.

Paypal would not be able to check every individual seller / merchant / company in over 200 countries worldwide that adds paypal to their website to accept payments.

So they give some buyer and some seller protection. However that protection can never be a 100% coverall so you need to read it so you can risk assess your transactions.

They do stop bad companies from using Paypal when enough claims start rolling in.
However as they are in China (mostly) then its easy for them to just start over with a new name, so stopping them does not really do anything.

The best thing is to not buy from them in the first place, to recognise them -

1. No return address on the returns policy. The site will look as if its in your country (where they despatch goods from) but they will ask for returns to go back to China (returns depot) at a shipping cost often more than the item is worth.
2. No contact telephone number. if you click on contact the most you will get is webmail or an email address.
3. Rarely company address information.
4. Great pictures of items at bargain prices that turn out to be tat.
5. Fake reviews.
6. Google and you can often see previous company names as they change them once enough claims roll in and Paypal stop them using their services and start over.
7. Send fake tracking numbers to win item non receipt of item claims.

Did you read up on buyer protection before you started to use paypal? Only...........

In the event of a dispute you choose your seller and not Paypal so you need to bear in mind possible return trackable costs before you go ahead and buy from that seller / country.

Paypal state this >>
IMPORTANT: You may be required to return the item to the seller or other party we specify as part of the settlement of your claim. PayPal Buyer Protection does not entitle you to reimbursement for the return shipping costs that you may incur.

You also have the option to do a chargeback via your card issuer instead of a Paypal dispute if you funded your Paypal payment via a credit card. However a lot of c.c. companies don't cover you if you buy from another country especially China renown for sending tat items. They have terms and conditions as well but worth a shot.

Kudos / Solution appreciated.

CCMOM.com got me too. They used fake AI images to sell me on buying the clothe and when purchased it was NOTHING like what advertised. They are a scam site and PayPal isn't helping with the return of the money.

Hello @Drayone

Thanks for joining the PayPal Community!

I'm sorry to hear you received clothing that was very different from what was advertised. If you haven't already, you can file a Significantly Not as Described dispute in the Resolution Center using PayPal's Purchase Protection Policy. You can find the steps here: How do I open a dispute with a seller?

When opening a case, you'll want to be as descriptive as possible. You'll want to describe exactly what you should have received and what actually showed up. For example, if you ordered a blue cashmere sweater in a large size but received a purple cotton t-shirt in a medium, you'd want to state those exact details. If a design is wrong, please describe exactly how it's wrong. The Purchase Protection Policy does not cover quality, so providing clear details is essential.

If you are asked to return the item to the seller, you'll have ten days to provide the return tracking number. Please note that PayPal does not cover the return postage, but you are welcome to reach out to the seller to request a shipping label. The address on the shipping label must match the address in the email you receive telling you to return the item. If you receive an address from PayPal that's in a different language, please don't hesitate to reach out to Customer Support to request a translation.

I hope this information helps you receive a refund. For any questions, you can find Customer Support contact options here

Hi Meghan. How do I get to speak to a person about sending my products back and getting a refund for what I still haven't received? PayPal has closed my case, so I wasn't able to elevate the dispute. Kind regards Nicole

Hello @Nikpurrs

Thanks for joining the PayPal Community!

I'm sorry to hear that the item you received wasn't what you were expecting and that your dispute case was closed without a refund. If you opened a dispute but never escalated it to a claim, it cannot be reopened. However, if the case was escalated to a claim but closed for a different reason, you may be able to request an appeal by speaking to Customer Support through one of these options

Please be aware, though, that quality is not something covered under PayPal's Buyer Protection Policy. If you received a materially different item, such as a blue cotton shirt, when you ordered a pink cashmere sweater, that would qualify. A few other examples would be if you ordered a shirt that had a design and the design was not the same as what you ordered, the item was damaged, or if you ordered a band name and received a knock-off.

If you find that your situation wouldn't be covered, you may still be able to return the item for a refund by working with the merchant directly. Typically, you can find their contact information on the transaction in your PayPal Activity. If they didn't supply their contact information, you may be able to find it on their website.

I hope this information helps and you're able to appeal and receive a refund!

Yes I had the same experience. The clothing is terrible quality and not like the picture. I also didn't receive all the products that I purchased, and did not get a refund after many emails claiming that they had refunded. Went through the resolution centre but they closed the case and nothing was resolved..useless!! Not worth the money or headache!

After waiting a month for my order to arrive I finally received my monster sweater and its not even close to what is advertised on the website. It is a cheap knock off from China. Which now makes me wonder if the product image was stolen from another designer. What I received doesn't have nearly as many monsters on it and the monsters that are on it are not furry and knitted into the sweater as the product image shows. Instead I got what appears to be large "replica" patches that are sewn onto the sweater and they have white edging that is rough and scratchy. On top of it I wrote to their sales team with complete details of why I was upset with the item only for them to respond asking me what the problem was with the order in broken english and that if I want to return it I will have to pay to do so. When I went to respond to tell them once again with what was wrong with the sweater and how I should not have to pay to return something that is not as they promised, my email was blocked by their server. Don't order from this website. Its a complete rip off! I reported it to Paypal as "not as described" but these posts make me worry it won't seem to matter much.
