My buyer sent a payment for an item but did not write anything in the note field. Is this a red flag? Does this leave me open to the buyer claiming he purchased something else? We made the deal via facebook messenger, so will I be able to use that conversation as evidence if there is a dispute? I normally send out an invoice with detailed description, but I was tied up at the time, so I just let the buyer send the payment.

Hello @whitd,
Welcome to our community help forum and thanks for posting here!
I do understand your concern and confusion here! Notes in PayPal is just to add instructions to the seller regarding the purchase. Empty notes filed doesn't make any red flag to your payments. No need to worry! With PayPal Seller Protection, you are covered for all eligible transactions. If a transaction is eligible for Seller Protection, it will be marked as eligible or partially eligible on the transaction page.
I hope this information helps!
