Do I have Buyer Protection if I state "no address needed"?

As a buyer, do you still have Buyer Protection if you state "no address needed"?

My case looks like this. I would like to buy goods from a German seller that should be delivered to my German address. However, this is my secondary address (parents' address), which I only visit occasionally. My main residence is in Spain and my Paypal account is also Spanish.

Since the goods are quite expensive, I wanted to play it safe with Paypal, as I thought I had Buyer Protection with it. However, I could not enter a German address with PayPal when paying. There is no selection for "Country" and it is mandatory to select a Spanish region, so this field cannot be left blank.

That's why I asked myself whether I also have Buyer Protection if I didn't specify the delivery address with Paypal, since the seller in Germany had already received the German delivery address when ordering. During the PayPal checkout process, you can also specify 'no address needed'. Is this a way without losing purchase protection?

I know that conversely the sellers will lose their Seller Protection if they ship to an address other than that specified in PayPal or if none is specified. But regarding buyer protection I couldn't find anything about the shipping address and I read the terms and conditions in English, German and Spanish. They seem to be identical everywhere.

Thank you for your help!

Hello @ChrisOh1,

Welcome to our community forum and thanks for posting here!

I understand your concern about the buyer protection policy. Our Purchase Protection covers all eligible PayPal transactions. For successful shipping of your order, you need to enter the correct shipping address at the time of checkout. If you have not able to add any shipping address at the checkout page and the order got processed, you can reach out to the merchant to request a refund. Once the payment is refunded, you can resubmit the payment with the correct shipping address.

I hope this information helps,

Bindu

Oh, just because of your answer I realize that I forgot to mention an important aspect. The order was not placed over the Internet but rather by telephone. Therefore, of course, there was no checkout page. The order confirmation was then sent by email. My address in Germany was noted in the order confirmation and bank transfer or Paypal were given as payment options. Their e-mail address was given for PayPal. Payment would then be made through my own PayPal account, sending money for goods and services. And my Spanish address is stored there in the Paypal account, which I gave when registering with Paypal many years ago. Within PayPal I only have 3 options to enter an address when I send money by email:

1. Enter the already existing delivery address when paying
2. not to send an address when sending money
3. Specify a different Spanish delivery address.

A German address cannot be specified here. But as I said, I had given the shop the details over the phone a few days earlier. According to them, I should only give the customer number and order number when making the transfer.
