Unauthorised transaction of 1p into my account

Hello,

I just received a payment of 1p into my account from an unknown name. How do I report it, I am worried that it may be a scam?

Welcome to PayPal community! I understand that you have an unauthorized transaction. Have you checked to see whether this is a billing agreement? If you find a billing agreement that you don't want, you can cancel it and contact the merchant for a refund. If the transaction is still unauthorized, you can report it and the required steps will be done to resolve the situation.

Thank you for your post and welcome to the community. I apologize for the confusion. I believe @ali_3 thought you meant a transaction out of your account, but I think you meant that you received a payment of a small amount. Is that correct? the report function would only be for payments made from your account, not for those that are received into it.

If you have received a small payment like that, you do have the option to refund it, however, if it is a goods and services transaction, you will probably be out any fee associated with the payment. You can choose not to refund it, but there is a possibility of dispute or chargeback.

If the payment was accidental, there should be no further problems. If anything further occurs that is worrisome, you can reach out to customer service for further guidance. Contact options are found by clicking Contact at the bottom of the PayPal website.

Did you just refund them? I've had 2 unexpected payments of 1p from different people within an hour of each other and dont want to do anything (refund/ contact them) in case is a scam that actioning it might start something.. very odd... and a bit worrying.. Hope got yours sorted easily -
