Fraud and Unauthorized Charges on Our Website

I am an owner of a small e-commerce baby bedding business. We also sell UPPAbaby strollers and carseats online on our website. In the past six months, we have filled two carseat and one stroller order that came through (3 different people) totaling almost $2,000. We ship the product and it is delivered, then the customers filed a "fraudulent" charge against us. In all three cases, they used a credit card. In all three, we provided tracking (Fed Ex) with signature delivery, the order confirmation, and a screenshot of the encrypted credit card. We also had an email from one of the three who asked (using her specific order number) when it would ship. We provided ALL of this to the dispute resolution center. And in all three cases, their financial institution sided with them and took the money away from us. I spoke to Paypal and they said they cannot do anything about it unless the buyer actually USES PayPal. This is so ridiculous and so unfair that I cannot even believe it. They (the financial institution) can clearly see that the order was made online on our website. And they have proof of delivery. Has anyone had this issue and what did you do to protect in the future?

Hi @CarolineLiz,

Thank you for your post.

I am sorry to hear what has happened. I know this must be concerning. The chargeback process is external to the PayPal system. If a PayPal customer initiates a chargeback with their credit card company we have no way of stopping the claim as it is handled by that card issuer.

To prevent this happening in the future, I would suggest you opt in for our Chargeback Protection. This would cover you in the event of any future buyers doing the same thing. For further details, please click here

I hope this helps!
