I was just charged $45 in dispute fees, I never opened any disputes or purchased anything. It says something about sellers. The transactions are just money me and a friend sent to each other. Why am I being charged dispute fees?

Did your friend chargeback the funds sent to you?

Thats your answer then, if your friend did a chargeback then you pay the dispute fee.
A chargeback is a dispute.
If you wanted to why didn't you just refund him?
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.

Because I wasn't trying to refund him. I'm not a seller and neither is he so why would anybody be refunding anything. Nothing was bought or sold. He sent me the money and I sent it elsewhere so it wasn't even in my account when he disputed it. I have a negative balance now. I've never had this happen before and it doesn't make sense to me that I pay a fee for something I didn't do. I mean it doesn't even matter cuz they automatically refunded him so much I'll never be able to pay it down. And it was for transactions from up to 2 months ago.

Why would your friend chargeback a payment he sent you, have you asked him?
Did he send the funds using friends/family OR goods/services?
If it was f/f then if he filed unauthorised or charged back you would have no seller protection.
If it was g/s then he could file a paypal dispute and if you did not have tracking he would be refunded.
The important point is if he was a ''friend'' why would he do that?
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.

How can I see what he sent it as? He told me he was hacked. How can I have seller protection, I'm not registered as a seller or anything like that. I guess he would do it cuz he's a pos
