I received the following notification from PayPal or at least it seems to be from PayPal: that I can no longer use PayPal services and that my account has been suspended due to misuse of the user agreement. And that they will be holding my money for 180 days and then at that time they will email further instructions on how to pick up my money. I don’t know about anyone else but I opened this account because I heard a lot of great things and after having the account for approx 45 days this happens and I know I did not misuse any of my user agreement. Besides I thought when things like these happen you get a detailed explanation and not some pre typed letter that is sent to everyone saying sorry Charlie.... I can’t reach anyone on the phone to try and get this resolved. Any ideas how I might resolve the problem quickly and or how to reach a live person At PayPal who can help me resolve things quickly with my account? I just seem to go round and round on the phone and get ultimately told PayPal didn’t have anyone at this time to help assist me with my problem. Any help would be appreciated to get me in the hands of a live person.... Your truly... frustrated

i have had this same account for the past two years......... there is absolutely NO activity on this account what so ever; have not used this account for any other types of transactions in any way..... but my account is limited!!! FIRST i was told that i needed to sign some sort of document. (oh ok) NOW i can't seem to get a hold of a human being at all and NO ONE answers email in any capacity!
Every time i log into paypal, all i see is this:
At PayPal, we value a safe community for our customers to do business. We noticed activity in your account that’s inconsistent with our user agreement and we no longer offer you PayPal services.
Any bank or credit card information linked to your PayPal account cannot be removed nor can it be used to create a new account. You can still log in and see your account information but you can’t send or receive money. Any money in your balance will be held for 180 days, after which we’ll send you an email with instructions about transferring your money.
I did get a reply that STILL doesn't make any sense at all, but THIS is what it says:
Thank you for contacting PayPal with your concern.
We appreciate your interest in PayPal; however, our decision to leave your account in a permanent limitation status is final.
PayPal reserves the right to limit access to any account reported to be involved in possible fraudulent or high risk behavior. In the event of a dispute, PayPal will seek to recover the funds from you by debiting your PayPal balance and, if there are not sufficient funds in your PayPal balance, PayPal reserves the right to collect your debt to PayPal by any other legal means.
If you want to refund your buyers, you are able to do that any time as long as the status of the transaction is completed. To issue a refund, go to the activity page, click the payment you want to refund, and click refund this payment.
If you do not have the ability to process a refund, you can reply to this email with the transaction details. We’ll send a refund on your behalf using money from your PayPal balance.
Due to the potential risk of chargebacks and other risks of funds reversals, your balance will be held 180 days from the date of the limitation. At that time, any remaining funds will be available for withdrawal.
AGAIN did i mention that there is no activity since i created this account two years ago? yeah 2 years NO ACTIVITY but somehow i did something fraudulent or high risk.... and NO ONE can answer me about this....

Hi, reallymadnow
Same thing has happened to me and ive been using paypal since 2008. After 4 month trying to resolve the limitation issue and being sent in circles I did finally get through to a foreign call centre from the Australian <removed> number found online to be told there is nothing i can do to resolve the limitation. It is permanent and i cant delete my account or any credit card or bank details associated with it. I cant open a new paypal account because they have my identifying details on file and will refuse a new account. Then they hung up on me while on hold again.
Great Customer Service Paypal!!!!

I’ve had this issue for 7 months from now and no response, no email to solve it, just nothing. It’s really frustrating because my account was used in the correct manner and I see no reason as to why it was limited.

I own a t-shirt business and I've had an paypal account for about 15 years. I've sole thousands of shirts and other items and paypal is where the money went through and I was limited in April and remaining money taken out of my account in September with no email, contact or anything.
I too have been emailing to no avail with no response.
The only contact I got was when it first started. I was called by paypal and told my account is being limited because of price gouging selling blank and printed masks.
I've been doing this for a LONG time and am in an industry where I know the people in the US that make the masks, so I had access almost immediately.
I also know price gouging restrictions and had my products as the lowest mask out there. In addition I do merch for bands, who were and still are in some cases out of work, and donated 75% of sales to these bands who's fans were buying to help support them.
I was selling a blank 3-layer cloth mask with a pocket for a filter and 5 filters for $8.95 plus $4.50 shipping. That was the highest I ever charged.
At the time a blank mask like that cost me $3.50 plus $.50 shipping to me per mask because I was having them sent next day air to make sure I kept my shipping to customers on time.
Paypal made their decision solely on an invoice I paid using paypal showing I paid $3.50 per mask. Even if that was the only cost, that is not price gouging.
My total cost per mask shipped was
$3.50 for the mask
$.50 shipping to me
$4 shipping to customer
$.75 for shipping containers
$.50 for label
$1.00 paypal fee
$1.00 ebay fee
So a net profit of $2.95 per mask sold. Not even close to price gouging.
I did sell the band printed ones for $13 with the band logo. But I donated 75% to the band on what was sold.
And those payments to bands came from my paypal account. So they could see I paid out at the time close to $3,000 and could of cared less.
And while all this was going on, except for my mask sales, I had no other sales because of covid.
So I was essentially stopped from making a living, for selling a product to help people survive a problem that left me with no income.
So yeah, whoever wants to start an action suit. Sign my **bleep** up!!!!

@FreshBaked I am also having issues and I don't get consistent answer from the Customer Support. Everytime I follow up, I get different answers in regards to the time line and when the review process will be finished. I am so so in deep trouble if I don't get the money / account limit lifted up. May I ask what your solution is to this problem?

@aggrider12 I have no idea. Taking it up legally is probably the only way.
I've talked to a few attorneys that would take it on with no pay unless a settlement is made, since it cost me so much income.
So that will probably be my next step.
If it's a significant amount and if it's caused you more financial damages, that's what I would look into.
