Paypal Refund disappeared ( Pending ?? )

Transaction ID7UY08844AH937711K for £27.95 I bought an item on the 7th of March , i funded the paypal ebay transaction from my bank account . The seller cancelled the order the same day and refunded the full amount , the seller said the item was no longer available.. It shows on my paypal account that the money has been refunded. Today is the 13th of March. However the money is not showing in my paypal balance and the money has not been put in my bank account. When i open the transaction detail it doesnt show where this money went to. I asked paypal to trace this money. they didnt trace this money but sent me a rubbish reply . Have paypal scammed me ? Here is the reply from paypal when i asked them to trace this money

How your money is refunded depends on how you made the original payment.

• If you paid with a credit card, the money is refunded to your card. If the card you paid with is closed or invalid, the money will still be refunded to your credit card account.
• If you paid with your bank or PayPal account balance, the money is refunded to your PayPal account. After you have received the refund, you can withdraw money from your PayPal balance to your bank account.
• If you paid using a credit card and your PayPal account balance, the amount paid by credit card is refunded to your card. The remaining amount is refunded to your PayPal account.
• If you paid using PayPal Credit, the amount is refunded to your PayPal Credit account.
• If you paid with a debit card, the amount is refunded to your debit card. If the refund cannot be applied to your debit card, it will be applied to your PayPal balance.

Refunds to credit or debit cards can take up to 30 days depending on financial institution's refund policy.

1. If you funded it via bank transfer then.....

Have you bought anything and paid for it via paypal since the refund should have gone in??

The reason i ask is that if you have funds in your paypal balance and then buy something then paypal will sometimes take from those funds rather than from your normal funding source eg bank account or card.
To check go and click on the word "details" next to any recent paypal buying transaction and see if they were funded from your paypal balance ie buyers payments rather than your normal funding source.

2. If you funded it via a debit card......

If you funded the original paypal payment to the seller with a debit then it won't go back to your paypal balance.

Once marked as completed it will automatically go back to your bank account but takes up to a week to process through to the bank (paypal say allow 30 days but I have never waited longer than a week for mine).
