Weird request for funds to be released by PayPAl

I received a request from a buyer that I check my email as they have transferred money into my paypal account and I need to check the emails sent, when I checked it I noticed they requested me to pay money into my local spar first via their money transfer, to MYSELF and then to email the voucher code and pin to paypal in order to have their payment released. This does not sound right to me so I want to make sure this is not a SCAM before I go ahead and do what they ask me to do as this sounds very fishy. Advice please
