Hi,

I bought a pair of shoes and user asked me to make payment via Paypal. Asked for their details and they sent me an email address with the instructions. I do I know its not a scam and that its legitimate?

Wha? If you are paying, all you need is the seller's PayPal email address. Log on to your PayPal account and send payment to the email address. After payment, PayPal will send you a receipt with who you paid, how much, for what, and transaction ID number. Seller don't need to send you "instructions" unless they are trying to get you to send money as friends and family which has no buyer protection. But you can't send friends and family payments from South Africa PayPal accounts, just for goods and services which has purchase protection.

I would not pay and move on if you have not paid yet. Its looking to be this seller is sketchy and trying to scam you anyway.

Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂
